Block Off AC Fresh Air Inlet

Block Off AC Fresh Air Inlet
The AC blend door that blocks off the fresh air inlet is broken. It might be the motor or might be the blend door.
It's in the open position which brings in humid air and stinky exhaust smells.
I live in FL and don't need it open at all. Too bad it didn't break in the closed position!
Fixing it is very expensive and I'm looking for a cheaper way to block it from the engine compartment.
I would like to have access to the blend door and then screw it shut. If there's an easy way let me know.
Otherwise is there a way to get to actual inlet location in the engine compartment to block it?
It's by the left windshield wiper.

If it were mine, I would first try to figure out if it is the actuator or a broken door or linkage. If the actuator is dead then just remove it and secure the linkage such that the door is placed in the closed position.
