Blitz VS GREDDY FMIC

I was wondering what the difference between the two intercoolers is besides price. The Greddy one is good for only 15psi, what is the Blitz good for? Is the fitment the same for both; is the install simular. For the $300 price difference the Blitz one better be phenominal. Which one sould I buy? Any feed back would be great. Thanks.

(Almost forgot, I will be installing this with the stock twins on my car but would like the versatility if I was to go to a single turbo or the BNR stage 3 turbos that flow better.)

Also, do I have to relocate the battery with any of those kits?

warning! Get the blitz front mount and spend a little more! Unless you want higher water temps and like shaving off most of the inner lining on your front bumper.

What did your temps get to with the Blitz? With the greddy and no fans on mine got to 240+!!!! Now with the fans, air scoop and bellypan i fabbed to box in the rad. and IC temps are never over 195. And yes alot of trimming was needed for the front bumper but it looks better than having those tabs poking out. IMO, I would get the greddy but i haven't installed a blitz to compare. Aloha, Dave

Hi Dave. I have the greddy 2-row and a buddy of mine as the blitz fmic.
He does not have water temp problems, I do. Nuff said. LOL!

Crazy, both kits will require you to either rplace the battery with a smaller one or will need to be relocated.

I'd personally go with the Blitz as well... No cutting and a little more room for air.

Dave, I whole-heartedly agree with the battery relo, the effort is definetly worth the extra space. I came up with a pretty neat idea last night, tell me what you think.
slap a fan behind the front mount to suck in cooler air from the intercooler to hit the front of the radiator.
What do you think?
Dave, thanks for the info, my email address is Series7@Earthlink.Net
I would love to try your scoop mod.
Thanks again.

I have a GReddy Type 24 V-spec (2-row). It's good for 15 psi, and if you have twins, the 2-row is the one to get. The GReddy Type 32 V-spec (3-row) is good for greater than 15 psi, but presents too much pressure loss for twins. The 3-row is best for large single turbos running 1.4kg/cm^2 (20 psi).

I have no experience with the Blitz. I remember considering the Blitz before going with GReddy 2-row; I couldn't pass up Jason's deal on the GReddy 2-row FMIC for $850 (offered at this price this time last year)

If I were hot-rodding my FD again, I'd go with the HKS V-mount kit. Rx7 Store offers this kit for $2250. The kit does NOT include a large radiator like Chuck Huang's Rotary Extreme kit, though, but FWIW Rx7 Store's price is less than anyone else's? http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=215&1=302&3=797

Im out of the $850 intercoolers. That was the one for the stock elbow. I do have the one for the Greddy elbow in stock and can do it for $899, but you have to get the elbow.

Zyon, it's rare that anyone with a blitz fmic will complain about water temps more than the average dood with a greddy fm. I wonder if that is the reason why the Greddy intercooler is so much less expensive than the Blitz?

I think since the Blitz sits behind the front frame there is more than enough room for air to flow around the sides and under it to cool the rad.You are instructed to put the tray back on( after some hacking) Which also channels the air well. With the fans running and the car stopped I can feel alot of air being sucked in the nose. I've never seen the Greddy personally, but since it sits so far front I think it would block alot of the air. Unless you could cut the bottom of the try to make a fresh air duct after the IC. Did any one try that?

The quality is not a question, I think it's the highest quality piece in the engine bay.

Do both kits come with the battery relocation instructions? How are they for installing; are they easy or hard? Do you have to hack up the front of the car inorder to put the intercooler on? Can anyone email me the instructions for both? Thanks.
