Exclamation Blitz SBC Owners - "Gain" Settings

Guys,

I've had my boost controller for almost a year now plumbed using version 2. Took me a good 3 months to actually get the thing to hold boost (had a few broken check valves hence didn't hold boost regardless of what settings). Still I haven't been able to figure out what to set my gain or how fast the boost rises although I know playing with these settings makes the car "feel faster" simply due to how quickly boost rises.

I know the manual says 5 but what does everyone else run?

I also read that too much gain and your boost pattern will trail off?

Another thing I've notice is that regardless of what settings I have, my peak boost for primary turbos will always be lower than my 2nd. Eg If my 1st turbo is peaking at .70 bar then my 2nd turbo will be somewhere around .75 bar. In other words 1st and 2nd don't hold the same boost.

Mods atm are stock twins, dp, cat back, FMIC and intakes.

I have mine set at 6. When I set it higher, I notice that it boosts to 10psi quicker, but it gets really bouncy at 10psi. It bounces between 8 and 10 over and over again.

I'm using version 1 though, and I think that may make a pretty big difference.

I may try lowering my settings abit because I think I have mine up somewhere like 15. Hopefully it will stop the boost fluctuating abit.

If yours is set to 15, its waaaay to high. If I understand things correctly, the higher the gain, the quicker you will build boost because the boost controller waits longer before beginning to open the wastegate. If the gain is too high, the boost controller waits too long before opening the wastegate, and it can't divert the exhaust quick enough to controll the turbo.

Try setting it to around 6 or 7 and see if that helps. Use the graph screen and replay to get a better idea of how smooth the boost is. You will build boost a little slower (may not be noticeable), but it should stabilize at the top end.

Let me know how this works for you, as I am considering going to version 2. I just don't seem to get consistent boost on the secondary in all gears, and its really annoying.

I think a majority of owners are running version 2. I've never tried version 1 myself.

I've set her down to 6 and boy does the car feel bloody slow to build up boost. I haven't gave it full throttle just yet so I'll let you know how consistent the boost is when the 2nd comes on.
