Blew a fuse, wtf.
Blew a fuse, wtf.
Just morning I drove to work fine. When I left I notice that the dash lights wasnt working, when I got i checked all fuses and the 15amp "meter" fuse was all burned up and melted the ousides cuasing me to buy another fuse box. My question is why did this happen? Im going to have to fix this asap so any help would be great.
This type of thing is tough to diagnose.
It could've very well been a defective fuse that didn't blow when it was supposed to.
It could've been a short within the box before the fuse, etc.
Where is everything melted? Is only a certain side or terminal of the fuse and box that melted, or is it all just a liquified mess now? Are you sure it was a 15A that was in there? Did you have any of those fuse "taps" installed there for an aftermarket device? Any other type of wiring work you know of?

prolly was a short to ground, or possibly could of been a short to voltage where another circuit interferred with the circuit with the blown fuse causing too much current going through the circuit and toasting the fuse. id say since there was so much current that it melted the outside of the fuse which isnt suppose to happen that its a short to voltage somewhere. you need to physically check the circuit with the blown fuse and find the problem, look for cuts in the insulation of the wires which could cause two circuits to interfer. but you need to find out what the problem is cause what is most likely gonna happen is your gonna throw a new fuse in that same circuit and its gonna happen again. its hard to pin point the problem like this, not being able to see it but i hope this will help you out a little
