Do you know what paint you used for that? Doesn't look completely black like the others, I like it.

Question since i do not know much about the powder coating process but is it possible to due black like most of you have done and then leave the lip stock and just polish the hell out of it? Or is masking not possible due to the powder coating process

I didnt powder coat mine. I was scared about the baking process they do to the rim and sacrifiing its integrity( I planned on autocrossing so I didnt want to mess with that). But I hear mixed things about that, some say its fine.... I never got a definitive answer. I researched how powder coating actually works because I didnt want to go on just hearsay and that just scared me more.... so thats why I went with this method. You can always touch it up later... or even redo it for minimal costs. It's just time and patience.

If you decided to paint yours, sure you could..... but like I said before - its a lot of prep work to begin with... so trying to leave the lip would be even more on top of that... Painters tape will become your friend. Or, try it my way... I figured out a trick while doing it.... I used index cards and lined them between the wheel and tire so I wouldn't get spray on the rubber. Then after that maybe you could make a cirlce cutout from cardboard for your lip? Cause I imagine trying to tape a circle would be really hard...... lol.

yes you can powder coat your wheels and have a polished lip, polyester tape is what is used to mask powder coated parts, curing is 390°F for about 15min, i don't think wheels could get messed up from that.

I love black rims

but it's really personal taste. if rims are defined as highschool kids group:

- black rims started as the street racer look, much like punk rock/gothic kids

- silver rims are like the preppy jocks

- fat chrome rims are like the lowrider gangsters

what type are you ?? o_O

Company could not deliver within the agreed upon time. cancelled the order. found the wheels on the forum, brand new still in box and they were local!!!!! i could not belive my luck.

I love this paint. No primer, no clear, and it held up perfectly over a year and a half. That was when that car was on daily duty also. Just gotta make sure the rims are absolutely free of all contaminates as this paint fish eyes pretty bad.

These are just my track tires. Sanded them down a little bit and used like three cans/coats of gloss black engine enamel.

Ya thats nice man!

I painted a set of stockers black and they just didn't look good to me, so I opted for the powdercoating.

I got on the band wagon. Actually, I thought of the idea myself (honest) so I had them powder coated. Then i got back on the forums after a while and noticed alot of people doing it....lol, I thought i was original. Oh well, I like it better! Except now i need to paint the center caps.
