ok so to get this straight. the soot is just a fact of life for a modded FD. The melting pretty much has to do with keeping the bumper and the exhaust away from each other and if I am worried about it get a heat shield.

RB makes a kick *** exhaust that is fairly quiet and sedate looking. PFS makes an exhaust that is slightly louder. I think I am going with the PFS.

If I wanna shoot flames (which i don't) I need to run rich and hope that it ignites on the way out the tailpipe and definitely keep it far away from the bumper to prevent melting.

Thanks for the help thus far guys. Keep the info/opinions coming

Has anyone looked into thermal wrapping their mid-pipe back to aid in scavenging?

I think you'll like the sound of the PFS, deeper tone to it, nto raspy. I didn't think it was to loud and even now with my dp and resonated MP, I like the sound. Another plus is it doesn't drone in 5th gear at 3000 rpms.

As for the soot, it's just something you'll have to clean when cleaning your car. It's not a big deal.
Yup yup, same here. I have the 5"-5.5" whatever HKS Carbon Ti and the fitment is great plus the only black crap/soot I get lies on the tip of the exhaust and inside of the exhaust, my red bumper stays clean.

Uh, No Flamage with a Cat on there.... Cat Will Supress all flame due to its design as a gas burner, which is basically wat flamage is is unburnt gas making it into the exhaust and getting ignited by the heat and oxygen in the exhaust...

you guys running the bigger exhaust, how far from the bumper are you keeping them?

I am leaning towards the PFS, although I am gonna try to gather more info on the RSR exhaust.
