Billet Aluminum Optima 51R Batt. Tray

This weekend I will be machining a new battery tray out of a piece of billet aluminum. It is to fit the Optima 51R battery due to my new radiator install. I was wondering, how many of you would be interested in one?

I plan to sell them with the machined finish and with a polished finish for approximately another $35-$40 dollars more.

I don't have an exact price just yet, but I'm guessing around $50-$60 dollars for the machine finish.

Sorry to bring it to you but a member on this forum (TurboJeff) has sold over 100 of these and there's a group by going on for them right now. I believe he already has another 30 or so people wanting them.

Heh, hey competition is all the better. I shipped them out yesterday, they should start arriving in Cal Friday/Sat and next week on the East coast.

For $35-40 for a machined battery tray, I'll buy one, honestly. I can't imagine how you can build them in quantity for that price.

What about the radiator required a new tray? Mine are stock mounted for larger SMICs.

If it's as good or better than "turbojeff's" tray, who cares? And since it's made out of aluminum, it weighs less (albeit marginally) than a steel version.

cohbra: What's the point of a polished finish when you have the battery sitting on top of it?

That's TurboJeff's tray above. I think he has a few left from the group buy so PM him asap if you want one (price is $71).

sorry I haven't got back to you guys sooner, my pc at home got a virus.

The reason that I need a 51R battery with my koyo radiator is because of the new height of the radiator. Since it is thicker, it causes the fans to hit on the corner of the battery tray. By going with the 51R battery, it will be narrow enough not to protrude into the fan.

As for polishing, it is just for the people who are as **** as I am about making even the things that you can't see just as pretty as the ones that you can see.

I'm going to try to get it done tonight. If I do, I will post pics later of the unpolished and the polished.

If there are others interested in a battery tray to fit a standard battery, I can do that also.
