Big Time Engine Prob

I have a problem, i just imported two 3rd gen rx7's. Brought them back last week not knowing too much about them. The same day i put the two head to head and one got blown away by the other. So i drove the fastest one around that night to check it out and it was running fine. Then out of nowhere it started to sputter then i lost almost all power could berly bring drive it off the road. Had to tow it home and it hasn't started since. I did a compression test on it but i had compression on the front plugs but not on the back ones. I dont know n e thing about these engines and would really apresiate some help.

Thanks alot in advance

How did you import these 2 cars? How much did you pay? Are they legally registered?

Everywhere I've read on these forums, importing is EXTREMELY expensive and almost illegal unless you know the Govenator or some ****.

^--MrNizzles, he lives in Canada, not the Socialst Republic of California. He doesn't need the supreme authority of the Governator, he just needs the car to be 15 years old.

check the MAP sensor. Same thing happened to my friend, his MAP sensor hose had come loose.
I've highlighted the MAP sensors location and the path of the hose vacuum hose that connects it to the UIM.

Whether it is or isn't the MAP sensor, I'd suggest you take both cars to a local reputible rotary shop to have them checked out. These cars are VERY tempermental and can cause a lot of unessecary headaches if not cared for properly.

In any event, start reading.

sell me your parts, are you a registered car dealer or are you using both of those cars as your personal vehicles.

I hope you aren't planning on flipping multitudes of jdm cars without declaring yourself as a dealer (and paying the associated startup fees). you can go to jail for that you know.

send the cars back to japan

If the faster of the two was running leaner, I'm sure the ride would have been exhilirating but sadly the joy ride doesn't usually last long when running a rotary engine lean. Sounds like you'll be learning about rotaries a lot quicker than you thought perhaps.

It's blown. You need an engine rebuild.

I honestly can't understand how people can import or buy a car without checking things like this. Every week without fail someone post something about just purchasing a new FD that has symptoms of a blown motor. WHY?

Because people dont research these cars enough prior to purchase. This is the beginning of people bashing the rotary and calling it unreliable when it blows up and you dont do enough research.

If you do a compression check and the rear has no compression, asking questions on here wont make the compression come back . Its blown, get a rebuild and fix it or sell for a loss. Add up the value of the rebuild and what the car would bring and compare it to what the car is worth with a blown engine. If you bought it to resell then figure out which is the better option.

Someone else had talk to me about the rear seal. Im in Ottawa and dont know of any reputable shops around. The cars were running great in japan i drove them both around for a while. And yes im am a dealer and the cars are 4 sale. Looking to get 16 000$ each. Running right of coarse.

Do either of them have a boost gauge ? If not how would you know at what level you were boosting and if the cars fuel system/ECU were capable of handling the boost level it may have been at. I would doubt the map sensor would affect your rear rotor compression so it appears you have answered your own question as to the condition of the motor. If you were out at night with the fast one I'd venture to guess you over boosted the motor and broke it.

16,000$? there's no way you paid more than 10,000$ for a car with an engine ready to blow in seconds. bleh shady canadian jdm importers FTL.

i'll buy the front bumper off of either one for 120$ + shipping. i'll buy the gauge hood as well for another $75 + shipping.
