big sucker!

i know rotaries are heavy on fuel but my 3g is ridiculous,i'm talking 5mpg on a car modified with blitz intakes,cat bak ex. i split the ecu (std.)today to see if it had been chipped to run rich,but everything inside seems std.cant see or smell fuel leaks either.car shows 3.5%co,backfires a fair bit so it seems its just running v.rich.is it poss. its got phat injectors? running off the stock ecu maybe? anyway the consumption is killing me 4 a near stock rex and fuel is not cheap in the u.k. any ideas people? thanks.

5 mpg is a bit excessive. I get 12 mpg on average. I also have a "lead foot" and drive primarily in the city.

There shouldn't be any injector upgrades unless you are running a stand alone ECU or a piggy back system. Chips wont controll injectors that are bigger.

Sounds like something is wrong with the car....

I would start with the basic maintenance points:

* Change oil/filter
* Change/clean intake filters
* Change fuel filter
* Change spark plugs (and wires if needed)
* Change O2 sensor
* Flush coolant

If you can, it might not be a bad idea to remove your injectors and have them cleaned and flow-balanced.

You reckon wrong, that T78 is going to need way more fuel than the stock fuel system could ever dream of providing.
