Talking big night for my Rex, shes back together

The list was....

Apexi PFC
Downpipe
Midpipe
Silicone hose job
Fixed the fuel dampener
Fixed my water temp gauge
Fixed high idle

After 2 weeks of having it apart.... got it all back together within the past two nights. Started it up tonight, first off I still had a high idle so I had to work on that. Checked the air screw by the intake side of the upper manifold. No luck.... after looking it over for a while... turned out my throttle cable was a little tight. Loosened it up, adjusted the air screw a little and got it purring at 800 rpms. The straight exhaust combo sounds bad ***, it has a completely different sound to it. I still haven’t driven it yet, probably tomorrow I will take it out. I am not sure if the boost will be fixed but we will see. Even if it doesn’t exactly fix the problem I still am excited. The carbon monoxide burning my eyes and the smile on my face is proof. I even had a few pops from the straight exhaust already. Well thanks to everyone for the parts and answered questions. I will follow this up when I take it out for a drive tomorrow.

Chris

keep an eye on that boostgauge, with that exaust combo, your gonna be boosting a lot more then the stock IC can handle.

good luck

Congrats!!
I finally got my car back together and running. It was out for 2 months but only took about 3 days to do everything (ATF, new plugs, hi flow cat, and apexi n1) and now I cann't boost worth a crap. I hit 5 psi and the engine starts to choke. Any ideas?

maybe your ECU is in limp mode.

try unplugging the battery and stand on the brake pedal for 30 seconds or so(this drains ALL the power from the ECU) Then wait for a few minutes. reconnect the battery and drive it then. It is a long shot, but might help.

Thanks, I'll try it when I get home and let you know how it goes. It seems to be the ecu b/c I was not having any problems b4 putting it in. Since I put it in I have flooded the engine and now this. WTF?!?!

yea I have a flooded engine right now to and I have heard that your ACU might go into limp mod after this happens. Is it flooded right now? or have you got it started again?

I did the ATF trick and it got started right up. It is running now but I cann't go above 5 psi or I get that stupid choking effect. I have driven it for the last couple of days but not hard at all. I am actually keeping from using any boost.

Did you check to make sure the MAF sensor is connected?

Where do I check it? I know that it is the mass air flow sensor but where is it located on my car?

I just finished driving the car around a little bit. I get fuel cut like crazy under full throttle. My idle is all wacky, if I just tap the gas or if I let out on the clutch just a hair it will die. It doesn't always stay at 800... in fact bearly... and if I rev it up sometimes it dies. It also backfires rapidly if I am costing in 4th gear w/o any throttle. I am guessing these are all just tuning issues with the PFC and stuff...... I dont know where to start now...

I would take it to the shop even though I am pretty much a "do it yourself-er". Tuning issues are something that I really would not gamble with. Just my .02

not the MAF sensor... maybe the MAP sensor? it's a pressure sensor not an air flow sensor (the FD doesn't have one, but should).
