A better Passenger door handle

Since these things break so much does anyone make a better inside passenger door handle?

Not to my knowledge unless you buy the $3000/door CF doors. Not sure it's that important of a fix.

Something to look at:

Their was somebody in the GB section that was making them out of some other material (don't remember what, think it was aluminum). I haven't heard anything since then, or if they even went in production. The GB for the OEM ones might still be going, but i doubt it.

We need to find somebody else who can go to some kind of shop with their OEM ones, and see if they can reproduce it out of some other material. I'd do it here, but its Abilene, i don't think we have a place like that here.

I see people needing them (self included) and paying $70+. only to break again. just surprised none of our vendor have fabricated a metal one or aluminum one sleeved in cf or something.

If you fix them like I do, they never break again. I 'glass in a metal support bracket that adds rigidity and strength.

And then of course I NEVER use the handle to close the door....lol!

^ thats my plan right there.
every person who gets in the car opens the door with either the window sill or the handle crevice. failure to comply results in a shin kick at the earliest convenience.

I sent 2 woodscrews through the bottom and filled the top with epoxy, wrapped the outside with duct tape so it wont leak everywhere. Find out in the morning how it holds

that sucks... i dont want to give my passengers a do's and dont's list to go through in order to ride in my car. if your hand is meant to go there it should be strong.

bajaman can you explain your process in more detail? thanks, heath

Really?I have a list of rules to go through when a person enters my FD..They definitely aren't allowed to touch anything in the interior!

Ummm... yeah.... there was a guy selling them out of aluminum not too long ago. I tried to get on the band wagon to buy it but he kinda dropped out of existence. Search aluminum door handle and you will find the thread.

I don't recall anyone selling the INTERIOR door handle.....? There have been several people selling the exterior. I mean come on....the interior one is a complex shape that would require expensive CNC milling machines to fabricate out of a large aluminum billet or a forging. Makes no sense.

****, I blew right past Mahjik's thread that referenced the DamonB fix I used, slightly tweaked in that I used fiberglass cloth and resin to affix the plumber's tape strapping I used for reinforcement.

A lot of guys have done things similar to this, and some of how you repair depends on how bad the damage was to the handle. Usually you can just re-align everything and JB Weld, 'glass and resin, epoxy, etc it all back together, and if you add some metal (or even wood...someone once posted about using Popsicle sticks to repair) it will help reduce the likelihood of it breaking again.
But ultimately you just need to NOT use the handle.

A new assembly (not just the handle, but the insert that wrap around and includes the handle) is something insane from Ray, that's after his discount. I think I paid $280 for one about a year ago, then lucked out and found a good used 94 style piece and returned it to him for a refund.
