Better Fuel Computer for my setup?
Hey guys,
I was wondering what you guys thought would be the better fuel computer to use on my car for the time being.
My setup is about to be: DP, MP, RB duals, Apex'i Intake, PFS SMIC, stock twins, efini y-pipe, running 12psi most of the time, and occasionally more if possible.
On the car at the moment I have the Pettit ECU. It's supposedly good up to 1 bar (14.7psi) of boost and is definitely rich as hell. I recently bought an Apex'i PFC.
What do you think will be better/safer to use on the car? The Pettit ECU or the Apex'i PFC with the base map. Eventually I hope to get Steve Kan tuned, but for the time being what do you guys think is the best option?

As long as you have a tuner nearby that is familiar with the PFC and how to tune it that would be a better path for you as you could have it tuned specifically for your mods and not a blanket tune like the Pettit

I have almost identical mods (high flow cat instead of midpipe). With the PFC base map I was getting safe AFRs (slightly rich) with maximum boost set at 0.9 kg/cm2 (12.8 psi) but my knock values were a bit high in some regions of the map. I think that your midpipe may put you at the edge of the safety zone with the PFC base map. I would either get it tuned immediately or buy a wideband to verify that you have margin. I would definitely not run more than 0.9kg/cm2 without tuning with the PFC.

You will likely need to richen up areas of the map running a midpipe. You are really limited to 12-13 psi with the stock fuel system anyway.
My advice would be to leave the Pettit ecu in until you can arrange a tuning session. Install the PFC and let it learn the idle before your tuning session, get it tuned, and you are good to go.
How are you controlling boost creep?
