Best Turbo(s) under $2500??????
Hello All!
My aftermarket warranty will pay $2000 towards replacement turbos.
My mods are listed at the end.
What options are available for ~$2500 total.
I presume a single is out of the question.
Do I need an ECU upgrade to use modified twins?
Or am I stuck with the stock twins?
Peace,
Michael

u will need an upgraded ECU if you mod the stock twins. so if you only have 2500 to spend it looks like you are stock with the stock twins. just get your stock twins rebuilt and pocket the rest of the cash.

I say spend a little more out of pocket and get the 99 spec twins. You can get them from Jesse Lau for $3k shipped. Considering Mazda's retail price is almost $4k for original spec turbos, why is your warranty company not fitting the whole bill?
Also, not only are there no single turbo kits for $2k, you have to spend a ton of cash to upgrade all of your other systems at the same time -- intercooler, fuel, computer, etc.

Try this out,
Get the BNR upgraded twins for $1650 and pick up a used Pettit ECU for $400-$550.
You are going to need an IC and an intake wouldn't hurt either. You "can" get away with the stock IC for awhile but I wouldn't reccomend it.

I agree that the power potential seems to be a bit higher with the M2 twins.

M2's= upgraded ECU, fuel mods inc. injectors and pump and 2 bar map sensor to really get into thier sweet spot as far as boost goes. I may have left out one or two other things.
