Question Best Rims for Silver Fd?

Looking to get some new rims and want to stay with 16". I looking for something nice and not too pricey, about $1,000 for set of 4. Any suggestions? Post pic's if you got them. I was thinging of silver with chrome lip.

If you are going to buy new rims, it would be foolish to get 16s.
In time you will change your mind. 17s gives you so much more flexibility in tire sizes.

Out of curiosity, what is the reason with replacing your rims? Are you going to go wider? Are your current rims broken?

I'm sure you know that as far as rims go, the stock FD rims are about as good as you can get in the performance realm (in a 16" rim)... Some of the volks may be a bit better, but not by much.

Other than that, I think my favorites are either the Volk LE37's or Racing Hart C5 EVO's (the C5's aren't available in 16" tho).

I photoshoped the LE37's on my car, so to get an idea:

i dunno why, but for some reason...cars with aftermarket rims of the same diameter as stock look really really gay. if you are considering rims for reasons other than racing, then it is pointless to plus size be anything less than 2.

my .02.

I think a +1 is alright if the roads dont allow a +2. Personally I was a +1 advocate for a longtime...but I am soon going to +2. Hopefully within a few weeks...will post pics.

Wheel/Tire Upgrade

I agree that there is a much greater selection available to you if you go to 17" instead of staying at 16", so you should consider 17" if for no other reason.

In any case, don't make the mistake of focusing only on "appearance" in order to make your decision. If you go to 17" try to stay with the same overall circumference as your 16" stock tires or you will pay a performance penalty. Likewise, look very closely at the weight of all new wheels you are considering. Aftermarket wheels can be much heavier than stock wheels. Heavier wheels will definitely cost you in performance.

Does anyone know the weight of the stock wheels?

By my sources the wheel weight for the 93 RX7 was 16.3 lbs.

unless you are constantly road racing, dont worry about wheel weights. when you do race, put the stock ones back on...they are light as ****, and have your heavier, good looking ones whenever you are not racing on a track.

The reason I want to stay with 16" rims is I run my car on road courses (i.e., Mid-Ohio) and plan to use my stock rims with Toyo RA-1's. I don't want to mess with the alignment when I switch back to street tires. I could just get another set of stock rims, but thought I see if there was something else to consider.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you would only need to worry about alignment if you change ride height... so as long as you keep the same tire circumference, there would be no need for an alignment after getting new rims. Is that correct? If so, may as well go with 17's for the street - you'll have lots more options.

I would go either 17 or 18.. CCW wheels are the same price, But you guys are pretty picky so I doubt you would run them on the street!

Yup I'm one of those picky ones...CCW center section looks like it's from a 15 inch wheel. I personally hate that..besided the fact they are not hub-centric....
yes they are light..but still not for me..

1. Kinesis
2. Fikse
3. Forgeline

Period... I'm going with Kinesis K58's...and 18's so JoeD wont get mad at me

I'm selling a set of stockers. They have decent tires on them and the wheels are in very good shape...
