Question best re-chipped ECU?

hey every1,
I'm in the market for a rechipped ECU since i wont be running more than 14psi on the twins and dont have $1300 to drop on the PFC for a little more power (just gonna add it into the single turbo fund ) and i was wondering which brand you would go with (M2, PFS, XS, Gforce)....or are they all relatively close and i should j/ pick up the cheapest one? post ur opinions/experiences!

-Zach

why do you say that? I know a PFC is the best way to go, but i simply cant afford it right now and those are my choices. So none of these are adequate for running 14psi?

If you don't have the $$$ to mod...don't mod!

Of the ones you listed, M2 and Pettit are the most well known and probably your best choices to pick from.

Zach,
7 years with the Pettit Unlimited ECU and no problems to date. 357.2hp at the tires at 15psi on 104 race gas, and 11.7 in the 1/4. Best bang for the buck and let's you run safely on pump gas up to about 12.5psi. Best thing is the shop that makes them is still in business.(where's M2 anymore, Peter farrell?) Cam's got the knowledge and it shows in his products. Go with what works and you'll be happy. I know you're looking for something reliable and that's the key. Good Luck

Just to add, those 7 years that RTS3GEN is referring to also includes many road track events as well as normal driving.

Off his advice, I purchased a Pettit ECU a few years ago. Zero regrets here.

If you are looking for a rechipped ECU, IMO, Pettit is the best of the bunch.

If you dont have the $1300 for the power fc & commander then just buy the computer w/out the commander, it comes preprogrammed for 10-12 psi of boost and will cost about the same as a remapped ecu. this will give you more hp the a remap and if you want more all you have to buy is the commander.

If you want to run the PFC base map at anything over 10 PSI, you might want to be ready for a rebuild:

not really....i can pick up a used pettit unlimited around the 300-400 range where as the PFC only is still ~900.

Good choice Zach, easy and simple. Plug and Play and you can mod the whole car till your hearts content. The nice thing is, when and if you decide to go single, you can sell off your Pettit to someone else just getting into the car for what you paid for it and put the funds toward the PowerFC or some other ecu.

exactly what i was going for. There's really no need for the PFC yet, because it wont give me much of an improvement over the retuned ones (or at least not $800 worth, imo) and im not going to be running more than 14psi on the twins and stock fuel system anyway. So when i do decide to go single and bump up the fuel system, THEN i'll get the pfc and sell the pettit.

Hell, you'd be amazed with the stuff that'll be available in the near future that will render the PFC obsolete. Cam is working on a 3D mapped standalone that runs the OMP properly and has many other features. He should be finished with the basic mapping soon and I'll be getting one to test hopefully before the Revolution. Stay tuned!(pun intended)
