I'm partial to Idemitsu engine oil. Having said that, did you perform a search to find the 78 billion threads on engine oils for FDs
?

Whatever oil you choose to use, make sure you stick with it and change it often. Unless you are draining every single drop out of your oil cooler and lines, you should change more regularly than the "5000" standard.
so why would having a little dino oil mixed into your synthetic be an issue?

Well I have heard that it is best to use conventional oil such as Castrol or Brad Penn for the break in period if there are new bearings and then switch to a quality synthetic such as Idemitsu or Royal Purple.

What!! The detergent suspends the dirt (combustion by-products), otherwise like non-detergent race oils you need to change oil after every race to flush the dirty out.
