TX Best Oil Temp Sensor Location

I tried searching to no avail.

I have an available channel on my PLX multi-guage and want to get the oil temp (I'm getting vacuum, boost, and coolant temp currently). Where is the best place to mount the sensor? I'm sure it is in the line from the engine to the oil cooler, but exactly where?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My oil temp sensor is in the oil pan drain plug. Works great, easy installation. VDO makes a direct replacement for the oem plug. Just remove the oem plug, and bolt in the replacement. Easy!!!

it is possible to debate proper location forever. so you just need to make a choice.... before or after the oil coolers and living in Houston i hope it is coolers w an S.

i really like my location. i used the oil level port on the driver's side of the oilpan. i removed the alum casting that houses the oil level sensor mechanism, removed the guts of it and welded on an aluminum bung.

Here's a link to one like I have. Call them to find out which one you need. At $9.95 it's pretty attractive.

Thanks fellas. I think I'll go with the drain plug location.

I wish I had two oil coolers. I missed out on a great deal a couple weeks ago in this forum. I'll keep my eyes open.
