As mentioned above, searching can be you friend. Also check the "Stickies" regarding filters etc. Much of the debate/posts revolves around Synthetic vs. Non-synthetic. Within those two categories there are nearly as many different opinions as brands. Here's a couple to get you started:

Personally, I use MOBIL 1, which I buy at Walmart.

They say mineral oil burns cleaner - i.e. less carbon deposit. But you need to change it frequently. I use normal Castrol GTX (white canister) and change oil every year (aprox every 3000miles / year).

^^damn you change your oil every year? regardless of how much you drive your car, its recommended to change your oil every 3000 OR every 3 months, which ever comes first..i mean i dont drive my car alot either but in a 3 month time, i put about 1100 miles, last 3 month period i only put like 860 miles and the oil was already dirty..(well thats cause i do alot of city driving) but still you get the idea..
i mean oil and filter comes out to like what? 18 bucks, i dont mind doing it every 3 months, even if i only put like 200 miles..

search, it depends on what your engine is like, how new it is, whats done, etc.
I'm using inimitsu on my next change but it costs so damn much I want to get as much out of my current oil as possible...

Scroll 3 down. The Idemitsu is what I use and I like it alot, after trying like 10 diff oils in my FD. It's made specifically for the rotary and was formulated for the 787B.

Also, I wouldn't recommend ordering oil over the internet because it's likely to be very expensive for shipping. Personally, I don't think it makes too much of a difference what type/brand of oil you use, the key is to just change it regularly. And, as said before, do a search and you'll have more than enough information available to help you decide.

Actually, when I order from Jegs (Royal Purple), it's usually less for shipping (a case) than I would pay in taxes. I wouldn't hesitate to use Royal Purple SAE grade or Idemitsu

No Syn?
Do I remember my owner's manual saying NOT to use synthetic oil in the little beast?
Though I can only guess why. It is probably on the site somewhere if I were energized enough to search.
Just throwing it in because of the new thread,,,,

I have run amsoil and mobil1. I still like amsoil, but do not like mobil1 at all.
I love the idemitsu. Car feels smoother, lots of subtle differences in driveability. Car doesnt seem to consume as much of the oil either.

5w-30
Can someone help me here. I don't see any reason why we can't run a 5w-30. At low temp it would get the oil to critical areas faster and at temp it would do what it needs to do, based on it being a 30. You can't say that a cold temps a 5W is not thick enough even a 40 weight at 180 is much thinner. So I am not sure what the problem would be. Many new cars run that oil, and we all know most damage is done at start up when the oil can not get to the critical areas. I am just putting this out there for discussion.

However, 10w40 has long been warned against because of certain additives.
