Some of the Japanese aftermarket manufacturers have engine torque braces made for the FD. A couple of them use the alternator bolt and strut bar mount bolt as a mounting point. Some of them even use some sort of damper.
Here's one from AutoSTAF from Japan

my brother has a 2001 Seville STS and when you take the traction control off and mash down all it does is rost tires
i've driven a lot of fwd cars but that car is amazing, no torque steer what-so-ever.

I agree...use the brace that attaches to the lifting bracket on the intake.
I'm in. There is someone else on the board who makes them too, and I think he sells them in the $170-ish range.

alright guys, Chris and I have been working on this thing to try and get you guys them at a good price. Just waiting to hear from Jason to put up group buy. Basically, the brace will be the original one that Chris and Reagon Racing have been using for 2 years, not just one some guy is making in his basement and hasn't even been tested. All the parts will be machined and milled using a C&C machine, but Jesus c'mon. I know the design looks simple enough, but getting guys to setup this type of precision work is expensive. the quallity will be uselessly perfect and rod may also be polished.
Here is where we are, the shop has agreed to do this, we need a minimum of 10 people on the future group buy. I don't think that will be a problem. We get price breaks at 20 and 30 units. the prices are estimated to be 195, 185, and 175 respectively. Furthermore, it will include the rubber mounts for the fender bracket, an dall appropriate hardware for installation.
keep an eye out for GB in next few days, after we get 10 people, it will take maybe 2 working weeks at the shop and they will be shipped immediatley.
BTW, the prices are estimates they have enough buffer in them for unforseen complications. Shop will only be sure ounce we start production. They will likely go down, and will not go up.

) And who is Chris and Reagon Racing? I've never heard of him until this thread.....is he good? Excuse my ignorance....just asking the common questions
He seems to be pretty cool
by responding to my thread on engine torque braces.
Who is Chris? That'd be me
Is he good? LOL I dunno. Good at what?
As for who's gonna make the best and most functional and aesthetically pleasing engine torque rod...well that's be "us" (plug plug)
But hey it's a free market economy. As for why I am finally making my deisgn available to the masses after so long and "helping" so many make thier own well I never had the means to produce this thing until a partner (KZ1) offered to help about a few weeks ago after I sent him my CAD drawings. Yes my design is fully CAD engineered and analyzed. I like you, silver94r2 await to see what the other produces. All I know is "ours" is going to be VERY nice! As for our price, it is totally dependant on the number of buyers which determines our break even point and which I think in any case is a great deal.

The torque reaction strut that Chris is building is going to be perfect. I used the CAD plans to build my own. The machinist I had cut my brackets said they were some of the best he has seen.
The bar works great, and looks great. I have no doubt that it is going to be worth every penny. The difference the bar makes is greater than the difference that my short shifter made. It tightens up an already tight driveline.
Good luck Chris.

BTW guys. group buy has been approved, will be posted soon ib GB section.
Lunar: if it moves that much I think you might have a motor mount problem. How old are the mounts? Have you checked them?
Thanks for your reply.
One of my mounts was changed by Tri-Point last year.
It was the left, if i remember correctly.
I did not think it could have gone bad again so soon.
Presently there is only "1/2" of clearance between my rear intake pipe and the ABS Heat Shield.
Is it abnormal to have that amount of movement?
I was planning to do some bending on the ABS Heat Shield to get some more clearance.
How much clearance does your car have?
Thanks for the advice, I will get the mount checked.
If it went bad so soon then that would show a large need for the engine brace.
What about the passenger side mount. That is the side that will be under load when the engine rocks.
There is more than an inch between the intake pipe and the ABS shield on my car.
Hope that helps. I will try and take a picture and post it tomorrow.
