Whatever works for you. The PC680 is small enough I didn't have to relocate to the back of the car. So far it has worked fine.

I know this thread is old but this is the exact battery I'm looking for with the side posts. Which one is it?

Anyone know if the Odyssey PC925 battery fit into the rear bins without cutting it up? Pictures?

Probably not the safest of options to just have it sit in there. But if its in there snug, I would much rather have two small holes for the wires instead of a completely missing bottom to the bin...

Just finished my custom battery "tray" (Fighters Garage style) to use with my Deka ETX-20L battery (15lbs 270cca). The "tray" is just some hacked up L-braces that came with off of a industrial shelving unit at my shop. The tray is really just a brace the squeezes the battery against the chassis. Then I modified/cut one of the two L supports on the OE tie down so that it wouldn't interfere with the positive terminal. I can post more detailed pics of this simple design if people want.

I don't think it is better than the Hawker Odyssey 680, but the price is right. They run ~$75 and can be had online OR Wal-Mart carries rebadged Deka ETX-20L.

I agree the deka batteries are great. Inexpensive, light, AGM and work very well. I have the Deka ETX18L I also use a 140 amp circuit breaker and always disconnect it. It will last months like this. I must have a small current drain, because about a week connected and it's dead.

Stats:
CCA 300
Amp Hour 20
Weight 18.0lbs.
Length 8 1/8 in.
Width 3 9/16 in.
Height 6 3/8 in.

Here's the thread with more information on the battery I'm running, and where I mounted it. Post 22 is where the battery information starts and post 31 is where the battery pics start.

As for the AI tank unless you really want to go with aluminum, USplastics.com has the best prices on polypropylene tanks in different sizes. They are very robust too. I use mine on my mechanical preturbo water injection which requires the tank be fully pressurized to 25 psi on a regular basis.

I couldn't leave my tiny 9lbs-er Deka for long either. A couple of weeks tops otherwise she needed a jump. I thought it was maybe the OE alarm system. I just stopped locking my car. Haha.

Yours must be super tiny. Mine is smaller then a kleenex box and still weighs 18 lbs. at 9 lbs yours would be half the size of mine. WOW, what model deka did you get?

Mine

**** the PC680.. at least for a street car. Wanna roll your windowns down with the car off? not if you want to start your car again with out recharging.

I have an oddysey 1200. It's light and can actually hold a charge.

I had the Deka ETX-12. It's 9.4lbs to be exact. This was overkill and I am much happier with my new ETX-20L.

i have a stinger p680, i have 0 problems with it. got a nifty prefabbed aluminum tie down plate for it. 6 bolts hold this ****** down, it doesnt move.
heres the battery

and heres the tie down

i also put a piece of 3/8" thick rubber mat between the battery and the metal
ill tell you what, after welding the nuts to the metal part of the bin supports, its rock solid, and looks sooo good. i wish i had pics though........

The stringer is obviously a rebadged hawker odyssey (or visa versa depending how you want to look at it).

I'm still on my first pc680 battery (2-3 years?). My FD mostly sees the track, so it can sit for weeks at a time. Between rides, I just disconnect it and put it on a slow charger. On a good charge, I can restart the car days later if I leave it hooked up.

However, if I were daily driving the FD, I would keep a jump kit in the car. Just in case.

I just got a 11lb Braille but havent installed it yet. Is there any other benefit, besides freeing up space under the hood, to running the battery in the rear bin.

Ive been using the same pc680 for 3-4 years, daily driven. I think its about time to replace it though. I keep it on a trickle charger if I plan on leaving the car sitting for longer than a week. Very light weight and small in size.
