Best E-fan for a Koyo Radiator

What's the best e-fan to run with a Koyo Radiator? Flex-a-lite? Stock? I'm also running a 20B under the hood. Thanks..

Stock fans are pretty good. If you want to use something different, this guy's web site has been a good source of info. http://www.alumrad.com/fans.htm

No everheating issues.. Just my flex-a-lite dual fan has hit my koyo twice now.. trying to figure out why.. I'll get the model # fan in a little while and post it..It doesn't happen until i put around 2k on car after a new radiator change.. Will post pics also.

Pics.. I think what is happening is their is no clearance on the radiator hose behind one fan motor. Once the car gets to operating temps and the hose swells it puts more pressure on the motor and pushes it toward the radiator. It's just weird it's ok for 1-2k miles then it happens.. Always happens when i'm pushing the car.. 80 mph+ Still weird.. any suggestions? The fan is still good.. just need two replacement fans..

can you use spacers or washers between the fans and the rad?

A couple of years back I actually did a fairly thorough engineering test (with a couple of fellow Engineers) of various fan and radiator combinations in my 240SX with an SR20DET. This came about due to the fact that the SR20DET in the 240SX chassis has a habit of overheating in 95+ degree weather. Anyways, the end result was that PermaCool fans are really only there for looks. Flex-A-Lite fans (twins like yours) weren't much better but unlike the PermaCools, they actually did flow air. Nissan Altima e-fans flowed a crapload of air and at $50 from a salvage yard they were a great deal. The overall winner hands down though were the SPAL fans. Those things were awesome! We just couldn't believe how much air those things moved. I never believed that a fan could make such a huge difference but it really did. I'd highly recommend them.

BTW...our testing consisted of various fan/radiator combinations testing in the following driving conditions: Highway Cruise, Drag Launch, and idling with the AC on high (in 95+ temps). We datalogged engine temps in and out of the radiator as well as engine bay temps in front of and behind the FMIC, in between the AC Condenser and the Radiator, behind the radiator, and ontop of the cone filter. We also measured all fan flows using a handheld CFM meter. Again, SPAL for the win!

Hope that helps

how does fan sizing work with the koyo radiator in the 3rd gen?

How do you order fans...are they pretty much universal and will screw right into the radiator correctly?

Im thinking about buying summit BeCool fans for my radiator as my idle temps climb.

I installed the Flex-a-Lite on my Koyo and it was anything BUT a drop in despite what
the mfr said. Key element is sealing the shroud to the radiator.

Hmmm, this makes me wonder. What kind of amperage do those Spal fans use? is it more or less than stock?

Also, How does everyone mount their aftermarket E-fans to their radiator?

I'm beginning to wonder how my Flex-A-Lite fans will fit with the Fluidyne I bought. Then again, I'm making a custom v-mount intercooler so mounting will be different anyway.
