a car is a car. weather or not its rotary. it has nothing to do with the actual engine when it comes to an alarm. so imho if they can't install an alarm into a fd then they can't install an alarm period. just don't be cheap with the alarm. i know im talking to a fd owner not an fc owner so most likely you won't be. best buy has some nice paging alarm systems that notify the key fob of a break in. so say you are in a mall and they break into your car. you will know because your key fob will vibrate. imo this is the way to go really.

Don't go to Best Buy or Circuit City or wherever. You need to find a store that specializes in car stereo and alarms. They can recommend the best alarm for you depending on your goals. Do you want a pager? GPS Tracking? Remote Start? When you get it installed ask for a stealth install.

Stores like Best Buy will mount the alarm CPU in the driver's kick panel area. Thieves know this and will be able to easily disarm it. The first thing they will do is open the hood and pull the negative battery cable to silence the alarm. If you're really paranoid you can hook up a second battery for the alarm only. In the end an alarm is useless depending on the experience of the thief. If they want your car they will take it.

Best alarm for the FD
A garage. Seriously. Any thief who is decent will get past any common security system you can buy.

Exactly. If you have a thief who knows what they are doing, they WILL get what they want, no two ways about it. I have had a viper alarm and really didnt like it. I have an autopage now and its pretty good. A cat in my apartment complex always feels the need to walk on the car at 4am and my alarm on the remote will go off in my room indicating something is going on with the car, pretty cool. But like I said, its really for your peace of mind. I would also suggest a back of horn thats not run off the battery and a kill switch somewhere in the car that is hidden and only you know where it is.

Get a detachable race steering wheel... I wouldn't think they would actually take the car, but they might still take the sterio or whatever...

I don't really think an alarm is going to stop anyone from breaking into your car and stealing stuff out of it. If I were you, I would take the money I would be spending for a $500+ alarm and just getting a lower insurance deductible.

Alarms are basically worthless. Unless YOU'RE within Ear shot of it and know the sound it makes, No one is going to go running outside to see what is happening if it goes off. I suggest kill switches. Cut the power to your Fuel Pump or ignition. If its hidden well enough the theif might not want to spend the time looking for it and might pass. But theres also the possibility the theif will get angry and slash up your interior. I'd rather replace seats than a whole though...

I was thinking about a custom alarm, not sure if its been done or not, i've never seen it before. But an alarm that has a womans voice screaming. Yelling "HELP!!" and other various attention grabbing phrases. Anyone know of any alarms like this?

If only i could bring my Garage with me to work, or the mall, damn. Any ideas to do this?

Come on guys, help he guy, don't give smart *** responses.

i personally have a CompuSTAR. I love it. Its the 2 way paging device, tells me if my lights are on, a door open, etc. I would highly recommend it.

Your car is that unsafe at work? If so and you are worried about your car, get a beater. Most of you guys haven't been here long enough, but the owner of the white FD from the original Fast & The Furious was a member on this forum. His car was stolen about a year or so after the movie opened. He had 3 alarms and the club on his car. When they found what was left of it, the alarms and the club were all just laying there on the floorboard where his driver's seat used to be...

Simply put, any thief that "really" wants your car and knows what he/they are doing will get it. The stock alarm is good enough to keep the common thieves away but that's still not going to stop someone from busting your window and stealing something laying inside your car (radar detector, store goods, etc).

my work is plenty fine, but who knows. Thats why we get alarms, just in case that unfortunate incident appears, where some one tried to steal your car or hits it backing up.

True if someone really knows there stuff and wants your car chances are they will have it. But 90% of thieves are probably drunk/crack heads/teenagers with no experience and "something looks cool" in your car, so they break in. The alarm WILL totally help for that, id get paged immediately and ill be out there in 5 seconds.

get an alaram with three imobilisers, one on the starter, ignition and fuelpump.
get a tilt sensor so your alarm will sound if the car is jacked up, get a glass break sensor and a vibration sensor too.
also get a backup siren -- these have their own power source and are in very tough black plastic box's..the only real way to make it shut up is to throw it in a bucket of water..
if you have three imobilisers and all your wires are blacked out so there is no way to tell whats what and the alarm brain is hidden way up in the dash somewhere then it should take hours to rewire it to work..and thats if you know what your doing
one of my good friends is an auto electrition,. he has done hundreds of alarms and stereo installs etc. He did the alarm on my FD for me, and he thinks it would be more work to undo what he did to my car, then it would have been for him to do it in the first place i.e get the brain out from way up in the dash, figure out what wires are what as they are all blacked out, hidden and taped together, etc
basically unless you have hours to rewire my car and a bucket of water handy to throw my backup sirens in then you might as well just tow my car away .. =p

+1 for a garage...

I'm going to try out the Zenesis 502, though. Mostly for the neat extra features like the knock pad, key FOB, and the 2-way remote.

Im also interested in an alarm system as well. Sloa, that looks pretty interesting. If your gonna do it, do it right thats what I say. Let me know how the zenesis goes. Im also thinking about putting in lo jack as well. It lowers my insurance payments slightly to.
