Best air filter for stock airbox?

I'm due for a new air filter. I'm keeping the stock air box. I know Nippon has an oem filter, and there are all the other ones they sell at the auto parts stores. I just wanted to see if there was a best filter to go with while retaining the stock air box. I heard that the K&N did not seal well??? Has anybody experienced this or another fitment issue from a K&N? I searched the archives and did not find anything.

Thanks

Never heard any issues with K&N filters. Use that then do the "adamc" mod to the box. You will like it.

My K & N fitment was excellent and probably is one of the best flowing. I have a well maintained used one available. PM me if interested.

The K&N filter is a slightly tighter fit than a paper filter. The K&N flows much better, and can be cleaned and re-used. I think it also comes with a lifetime guarantee. I highly recommend it. Sgt Blue is a reputable member on this forum. I'm sure he will give you a good deal on his used one.

If you want to modify your airbox to flow a lot better, PM me.

About the only time I've heard of a fitment issue with the K&N is if someone does not use the included "grease" to lube the rubber edge on the filter when attempting installation.

I use one and have no issue's. More money up front...but reusable for life under normal conditions.

K&N for sure. No fitment problems here. And I highly recommend the 'adam c' (or similar) airbox mod. This totally eliminates the known phenomenon of air-reversion thru the intercooler (if running stock I/C).

Thanks guys for all the input. I have always like K&N so I'm glad it's a good fit,. I got a good used K&N coming from Sgtblue. Thanks Jim.

I've read all about the AdamC mod. First I'm going to do boost, oil press, and water temp gauges, and downpipe. I don't want to run lean. I really can't afford to toast any engines. I prefer to play it safe. Car feels damn fast as it is.

Adam
