Belts too tight. Damage??

I just got my car back from the shop. After a couple of days, I checked the belts, and noticed that they were way too tight. Not just a little tight, but WAY TOO TIGHT!!! The car was driven at least 250 miles this way. Maybe more.

Any likely damage from this?

Thanks, Adam

I would cause increase wear on the pulley bearings. However, I don't think that little bit of mileage will completely ruin them.

Under the classic analysis of bearings, it will only shorten their life. I'm not sure you can get a belt so tight as to cause the bearings serious damage that will make them puke soon.

Thanks guys. I will be changing the belts this afternoon. They were due for replacement anyway.

Bearing wear from 60k miles of the acc. belts too tight. It was not the reason this motor was apart, that bearing could have gone lots more miles.

This is the front stationary gear and it's upside down in the picture.

So it's just a "flesh wound"?
