Bell intercoolers

Has anybody ever looked into getting an SMIC or FMIC made to order from Bell Intercoolers? I've been wanting an SMIC that fits with the airbox, battery and stock ducting. When I had a Volvo S60 R a group of guys did a GB on an intercooler setup. Bell ended up making a bunch of volvo setups. Are there some guys out there still running the stock IC that would want to get one made? We could get the dimensions of the blitz or another SMIC that fits using the stock ducting.

I've had a Bell SMIC for years. Works great, quality is good, the end tanks are pretty industrial looking. Here's an old pic, it's changed some since then

Great! Glad to know somebody has experience with them. Did you have them make it for you? Do you remember what you paid? They are local in San Antonio so I figured it would be pretty easy to get one made if I have some good dimensions. They used to make turbo kits for NA FCs and some other cars years ago.

If you're buying just the core from Bell be very ******* careful!! I was looking at doing a water to air setup for a 20B and we bought a custom $800 core with no end tanks. Fabricator built/put the end tanks on and went to pressure test it only to find out it was leaking. Leak was coming from the middle of the core and Bell wouldn't warranty at all. Credit card company would refund us either.

Also, there was no way we could have damaged this core....the leak was coming from the center of a core that was roughly 9" (H) x 14" (D) x 6" (W). Only advice is get them to fabricate/install the end tanks as that way they can pressure test it and then they will warranty it.

Yes, it was made to my specs. I haven't looked lately, but they used to have a decent website, with core dimensions and flow. It was so long ago, I don't remember what it cost.

I had a custom CWR replica cooler made to my spec, and it's very nice. More rows and denser fins than the original Spearco core Duane used.
