beep sound when car was driven hard w/track times

I was wondering if you guys get a beep sound when the car hits full boost when running it hard. I had my car at the track 1/8 mile. i only did three runs but on the second and third runs when the car hit full boost i heard this beep sound. stop when i shifted and beeped again when it hit full boost. its not just a beep its a beeeeeeeep until i shifted. now i though it was a boost leak but after i let it sit i drove it home and did some highway pulls to about 150mph and it didn't beep.

what i thought i was b/c i just watched a option video and the rx7 in that was making the same beep. kinda like a warning beep. so it occured to me about the exg. overheat light that is in the consol. I wanted to know if the car beeps when this light lights up.
also if you want to hear the beep noise its in the rx7 multimedia/video forum and the video is the "rx7 5 laps" thread.

well my best on the night out of three runs was
recation-.1678
60ft-2.0350
330ft-5.7802
593ft-8.3131
1/8thmile-8.8711 @80.64 with the below mods(sig)

your car should beep at you before it hits the redline. Is it an auto or a manual? If its a manual, take it out and floor it in second gear until it hits the redline and stops accelerating and then change. If you didnt hear a beep, there is something wrong with your car. Was it at high RPMS only it was beeping? it should start beeping high up on the rev counter to tell you to change gear, although im not sure where as im too scared to look anywhere apart from the road in mine past 5k rpm haha.

The car beeps when the tach approached redline. I am nearly certain that is what you heard.

your right the reason i've never heard it before is b/c i almost always have the windows down and the radio on. i rolled them up and turn off the radio and the beep comes on between 7.5-8000 but its really faint. thanks

My first guess was the rev buzzer, but it could also be the oil level buzzer. When your oil level is low, and the car is under considerable load, or being swayed to one side, the oil level suddenly drops, and the oil light & buzzer can come on momentarily. But you should be smarter than to through ANY serious driving w/o checking the oil level first.

PS: I miss my redline buzzer. I lost it when I installed the PFC, and haven't figured out how to get it back. Neither has anyone else who's in my place, for that matter https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/anyone-ever-bring-back-redline-buzzer-after-getting-pfc-323231/

Hate Internet bitchin....but....

Look dude, there had to be some research you did on the car before buying it. This is the notorious FD3S. The buzzer is a factory standard....ie: didn't you know the factory options of the car before signing away thousands$$

Raj

Sorry I said anything. You guys should here the ones in FB's! They sound like a nagging girlfriend!

no my oil was ok that wasn't it. i took the car out, tested and it was the rev beep. thats pretty cool. i didn't know the rx7 had one of those. i've never heard of anyone else talk about it. but it is really faint i wonder if i could make it loader. it would be pretty cool maxxing out the rpms in 5th gear and this beep come on so it reitterates how F^cking fast your going. but i have a while before my car will be able to max out fifth gear so i wont have to worry about that anytime soon.

oo and rajeevx7 yeah finding out wether or not the FD had a rev buzzer had a big impact on me buying one . so all the research i did on important stuff like cooling, recalls, factory defects in the fuel system were all taking away by the fact that it has a factory strandard rev buzzer! wow... a rev buzzer coooool i'll buy it!

My '93 base never had a redline buzzer until I bought a chipped ECU and swapped it in. I don't know why the original ECU didn't have the buzzer.

I dont think the buzzzer is even in the ECU! its hard to tell where the sound is coming from when driving the car, its just like an omnipresent beep haha coming from everywhere.

And yes, i agree with silvia, i never knew that RX7s had a beep for gear change until i drove one hard, but id been researching for 6 months before that.

Yeah, I don't think the speaker is in the ECU. duh.. lol

But the ECU probably controls it, hence why my ECU swap brought back my buzzer.

Or maybe I'm just crazy and never paid attention to the buzzer before.

Actually, if you look at my thread (https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=323231) you'll see it's always when someone messes w/ the ECU. Seems like it may be one of the wires that connect to the ECU or something of the sort. I'm pretty sure it's in that vicinity.

I'd imagine the ECU contains some sort of flip-flop circuit to activate the buzzer, although not sure which wire controls the signalling. Anyone care to look up a wiring diagram?

i.e:
if (RPM>=8500)
{
Buzzer_sound=1;
}else{
STFU!!!;
}

For all you programmers out there

Hmmm my PFC installation has left the buzzer working...

I havent removed the 4 wires from the loom though.

I wish the damn buzzer would die however...I am getting sick of hearing it!! It is really distracting when pushing hard around a corner in 2nd or 3rd with no thought of changing gear with that constant nagging damn buzzer!! I wonder if it can be adjusted to come on 1000rpm high in the rev range?

PS I love noob questions like this...Makes me feel like some of my dumb questions arent so bad (No offense meant!)

Some FDs also make a whistle sound from the windshield trim at high speeds. Mine does it at 85+ in a slight cross wind or headwind. If you were accelerating to high speed and encountered that sound, at first you might think it was a warning tone, like the tach redline beep.
