Hmm...I've never actually heard of running the cable under the car, until now.

I, for one, ran it through a rubber plugged hole in the DS fender, into the cab near pedals, under the scuff plate, then under the bins, and finally to the PS bin area, where my battery resides now. Works fine for me.

 

This is the most recommended way.

 

First off, I really don't know where everyone got the idea that he was running the cable under the car, I read every post made by RxSeven1 and not once did he say he did... this was an assumption made by Rotary Experiment Seven that spiraled out of control. And seeing that he thinks hooking the cable to the starter will take power from it even though it is not a known power source, surprises me that a lot of you agreed with what he said... the blind leading the blind.
FDeez is correct in running the cable through the grommet in the driver's fender. Connecting the cable from the (A) post on the starter and running it through the fender grommet saves a few feet rather than running it all the way up to the old battery terminal.

 

Running it under the car was brought up none the less, so this option was discussed. It's a bad idea. Running it to the starter rather than the fuse box is not IMO. It also keeps a big red wire out of the engine bay, resulting in a cleaner installation. Unless you like lots of colors in your engine bay, which makes you a ricer dammit

 

speaking of fuses and breakers, what are you guys using? is a car audio type 150A breaker reliable enough to use? Isnt the starter normally unfused? If so, Im worried about the voltage drop from running the starter through a fuse or breaker.

 

if you are going to run cables under the car why not put them into a rubber hose?..that will protect the cable "real good"..just a suggestion($.02)

 

I use a Phoenix Gold 150A breaker. I haven't had any issues. It's also a cool, quick way to "disconnect" your battery without fiddling with the battery terminals.

Now if my battery would hold a charge for more than a few days of non-operation, I'd be happy. Time for a new and/or different battery...dammit.

 

You have a full size battery?
