Your placement has these traits:
1. Worse CG (Center of Gravity) Location
2. Aesthetics (Looks terrible)

Get over yourself.

And to be completely fair: I do like the actual mounting plate you used. That is a nice looking piece, but it doesn't need to be showed off. It is, after all, just a battery tie-down. The rest of the install looks amateur.
+1

why post about something unless you're doing it right?

Or if you are posting to find out how to do it right.... why not listen to the people that know what they are talking about and are trying to show you HOW to do it right?

It just doesn't make sense to me: Hey, can you help me do this? (Yeah sure... here is how, and why) Oh no, I can't do that. I have to make s'mores.

You can also install mine with out hacking up the bin, perhaps even less. I opted to cut out the bottom to make a nice secure mounting bracket which is welded onto the floor pan for that extra piece of mind. From my above pic, you wouldnt know it

I do appreciate that write up again Moconnor
Got mine on the way. Thanks for the tip.

They can't change the size of a 51R because that is what the BCI is and the battery council names it a 51R because it falls into the specs required for that. I doubt anyone cares, but thought I would throw that lil bit o' knowledge out there for ya.

If I were going to place my battery in one of the rear bins, do I HAVE to put the fuses there with it or could I just keep it all in the engine bay or whatever?

The only thing that needs to be co-located with the battery is the breaker. The fuses in my writeup are optional and all the stock fuse boxes remain where they are.
