Battery died, now having problems!

Just took my car home from the autobody and the car wouldn't start. So I got the battery jumped and the car is backfiring all over the place. I went and replaced the battery and now the car is still backfiring. Is it true that eventually the engine will die after the battery goes?

uh, no. is the car stock? if not, what mods?

backfiring is usually the result of running rich as i understand it.

it might be the all famous map/boost sensor. its located on the driverside firewall. if the vacum line is not completly attached to it the car will run like you described. good luck.
