Balancing new brake rotors.

I just picked up a pair of Brembo front rotors from Rotors Direct, an eBay seller. I haven't installed them yet, but I have been doing some reading up on installation to make sure I don't miss any important steps. I came accross someone instructions, and they mention that they check to see if the rotors are balanced before installing them.

I don't want to assume this was done considering the rotors were not that expensive, and they were also cross drilled and slotted by the vendor - which elminates any factory balancing of the Brembo rotor.

What would be the easiest and most cost effective way of doing this? I could probably go to Town fair tire, and the guys could quickly tell me if they are balanced or not... but if they aren't blanced, it's not like it's easy to start sticking weights on the rotor.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I've never heard of anyone "balancing" brake rotors. If you are referring to making sure the runout is within spec, it sure as hell better be with new rotors.

Stoptech balances their rotors i believe. It is almost as easy as tires/wheels i think. The weights that they showed were little lead pieces bent and peened onto the vanes of the rotor. This is to eliminate some of the high speed vibration that can sometimes occur. (And you can never get rid of it and bugs the hell out of you since you cannot pinpoint it) Nor would you think to look at the rotors as Rynberg has said." I've never heard of this"
I had not heard of this until recently either, but it makes sense as i have had some shakes that i could not pinpoint.( And cheap slotted drilled rotors)

I think Mazda balances their rotors. My RZ rears had some strange wire "comb" things sticking into the vents from the center of the rotor. They seemed otherwise useless, so I figured they were for balancing.

I've seen other rotors where it looks like some material has been cut from the vent area along the outer diameter of the rotor that seemed like it might be balance-related.

My new brembos had some material taken off the od of the rotor, asumed it was for balancing.

Some rotors are balanced from the factory, but they are typically larger trucks and vehicles with large/heavy rotors. I wouldn't think that an reasonable quality, stock sized rotor from our cars could be out of balance enough to notice. They really aren't that big or heavy.
