Bad Sound Coming From Engine Bay

When I run my car I get this sound that is very familiar to when you put a coke can on the tires of your bike to add that "engine" sound. It seems to be coming from the alternator area. If I accelerate passed 3500 RPM it will seem to shut off but once I hit boost the car feels like it hits a wall. Only happened once then I went home and didn't boost at all. Checked the engine bay to see if everything was intact and it all is. Any ideas what this could be?

Check grounds.
Check Alternator wire leading to Battery.
Check Vacuum lines.

I did switch the stock air box for an Apexi intake...but how could that cause my issue? I know the sound is different with that intake but the sound I'm hearing isn't from that...think I'm take my alternator in to get checked after I do what sikopathx suggested.

there is a hose comming from the back of your motor (between rear turbo and mintake manifold) running al the way back to the front (airbox). Most aftermarket intakes have a connection for it on their tubing.

When i replaced my airbox with the HKS unit I had a sort of a goose sound everytime I got of the throttle or similar.

I got myself an oil pan relief filter from K&N and attached it to that hose (with some extra foam in it.it doesn't hurt because the engine is pushing air out through that hose) and the sound was gone.

Try it and it will most likely solve your problem.

Do you have aftermarket wheels. Their is an electrical wire on the other side of the plastic in the wheel well. I have herd of people burning through it. Just a thought

its the air pump... i think that your clutch on the airpump is stuck and the noise is normal when you go to a open intake. i had that happen to me too...

Yawp something is seriously broken hard core like. Like I said the car drives fine and it felt normal. Just when I hit that boost I thought something had broke but the car was still on and I drove it back home and it felt fine just didn't rev up to boost. So today I start the car to listen to it. Now there is a whistle thats gets louder the higher the RPM's get at idle and a noise like a rattling like something is broke. It's coming from the area where the alternator is from what I can hear but it may be something else. Dunno if anyone can point these sounds out. Broken motor? please don't say it's so!!! Hehe.
