Exclamation bad ecu?

I have a pettit upgraded ecu that does not display a check engine light when the ignition is turned on. Also the engine will not start anymore with this ecu. Does this mean that ecu is bad assuming the light is working properly?

I know the light is working properly since I have a 2nd ecu(the stock one, which I know is no good) that displays the light like normal, but also puts out about 10 different codes including #14 which indicates the ecu is no good.

Basically I'm trying to diagnose the reason my car isn't running properly. Is there a way to test my pettit ecu besides putting it in another car? I dont know anyone in my area with a 3rd gen that I can test it on. I have a feeling it isnt working, but would rather not buy another one, without knowing for sure that it was no good. If I were to take the ecu to a Mazda dealer, do they have any way of testing it? I have pretty much ruled out any fuel or ignition problems since the car will start with that bad stock ecu, but runs in limp mode. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

how do you know your stock ecu is no good?
I've never heard of 2 ecus failing on one car I think you have some wiring issues.

Why would you even think about taking the PETTIT ecu to a MAZDA dealership? What are they going to know? I suggest you call pettit racing and ask for cameron.

The stock ecu gives code #14 which is the built in atmospheric pressure sensor. In the service manual it states that if this code is present the ecu is bad. It was working when I took it out of the car, but this is the first time in about 3 years since I have plugged it in and it seems like it is not working.

I will call pettit and see if they can test it out for me, but that would involve mailing it over there. I was just wondering if the dealer had any diagnostic tools for checking ecu's, since the pettit ecu is basically stock, but with diff maps. Like I said, I dont know anyone else locally with a 3rd gen to test it on.
