Backfiring problem

Hey bros, i went to start my car up and warm it up to the operating temp. Any way my temp reading was still at cold, but when i tapped on the throttle slightly, it backfires, is this something to be concerned about? even once the temp was close to its appropriate reading temperature, and i i stepped on the gas pedal slightly it would backfire. WTF!!!
