axles wont fit into diff...

Damn y'all, another issue with my FD.

Axles are in the diff and mounted to the suspension arms but there is still about 3/4"-1" of shiny shaft left that is supposed to be in the diff...the diff is full of fluid but not leaking.

How do you complete the axle install? I have tried to push te green thing towards the diff but it moves a little in then returns to former.

Thanks for your help.

I've never had my FD axle shafts out before, but on every other car I've worked on, there are spring clips on the end of the shaft that click in and hold it in place.

You are suppose to change the "C" clip retainer springs every time you pull them. Even if you did not; they can take a little force to pop them back in.

Ever use a hammer with a piece of wood???

were do you place the hammer and wood? do you place the wood on the boot by the green thing and then hit the wood with a hammer? Very worried here about hitting the boot and tearing it.

Someone mentioned that I have to remove the main bolt holding the shaft in then hit the shaft outside of the rotor housing.

I am really not wanting to remove the toe link, a-arm and lower suspension bolts out but if I must...

Btw, I did change the c-clip on both of the axles...but do not have the strength to push them all the way into the diff...seems like a little less that 1" to completely penetrate the diff...I can push it in about a quarter of an inch but then it wants to pop right back.

Damn working on the FD is a pita!

For those of you that are following along....well might tell you how stupid/deperate I was yesterday; I went and bought a come-a-long to try and close the gap on the axles...well did not work and may have torn a boot well, all I had to do was remove the toe bolt and the bolt on the bottom of the hub and hit with a rubber mallet and it went in without incident...man what a learning curve when you do things yourself...damn simplest things can become a nightmare!

thanks all for you feedback
