5 hours on mods - Twinpower
Finally got off my *** and installed my HKS Twinpower, Magnecor wires and new plugs. Damn those plugs suck!
Anyways, the car runs fine, but the red light does not turn on. Is the light dead, or what? I did at least a decent job sanding the spot where I ground it, but not 100% exposed metal. I will go out and see if that is what it was.
I think I notice a power difference, and more smoothness from 3K-7K.

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but nothing surprises me at this point, including some of the stupid stuff I do on occasion . I mean no offense...
How did you ground it? Is the terminal under a bolt or screw, or just taped to the fender or something?
Do you have the FD-specific wiring harness? Is it plugged in?
Is the unit new or used?
Someone gave me a tip to put silicone sealant in the unused (no wire) holes in the rubber grommit on the TwinPower unit to keep water out of there. Water kills the TwinPower, apparently. It is easy to do and might be a good idea, especially if you use water to wash the engine periodically.

Thanks for responding. New unit. I used their harness. If the harness wasn't plugged in, I don't think it would run
I used a file to scrap paint away from from the top hole to the right of the HKS seen here. Then used the bolt they gave me and one of their washers.
I remember reading the same thing about the holes, and filling with grommets or something. Where are these said "holes"???
Tomorrow I will remove the ground, and make sure there is a surplus of bare metal there, and see what happens. Given the immediate upgrade that everyone says they notice, and the fact that I did plugs and wires (Magnecor 8.5) at the same time, I expected more...

My red light is on. Grommets are different from what Max is talking about. Look at your harness and you will see that where there are no wires there are holes. Fill these with silicone. I wouldn't expect a big gain in hp. I think the twin power more insures that you don't LOSE hp from ignition breakup. Again I think the red light should be on or something is not right.

Yes, the holes are on the TwinPower unit itself, where the wires come out. The rubber grommit for the wires has more holes than wires for this application, so you have some holes with no wires coming out of them. Just squirt a little silicone RTV sealant in there to seal them.
I was kind of surprised it works this way, but I had the harness installed but forgot to connect the TwinPower unit to it one time and the car still ran. The light was not on, but it didn't prevent the stock ignition from running the coils. Perhaps you got a bad harness, PVerdieck. The ground sounds fine -- even with paint on there, the bolt will usually conduct the signal from the ground tab to the body via the threaded portion. Cleaning the paint off can't hurt, but I doubt that is your problem at this point. It looks like it is mounted well with a good ground.

I will check the connections tomorrow.
If no go, then I will get another harness. Though since I'll probably have to remove the intake, I'll switch to a Greddy Elbow, but then I'll have to have a fitting welded for the air line. Or maybe not, because it just doesn't drop in, from what I have read...

Question. Given the increased power to the plugs, what types of plugs should one be running. The 1st owner switched to all trailing. That is what I installed, BUREQ or something, they had "T" on them.
The other thing I am wondering is if I damaged the harness myself. I put in the new harness, and then replaced the old wires and plugs. Given the minute amount of space around there, it is conceivable that I might have done that while working.

False Alarm. Thanks for the responses. Jason and rcb100 had the right answer. I was looking at it this weekend in direct sunlight from above. I couldn't tell. I checked it now, and it is indeed lighting.
Yeah, I think it was BUR7EQ. I pitched the old ones and don't remember.

I have all Trailing 9s. The original owner switched to all Trailing. All the plugs I took out said the same thing, and the new plugs said the same thing also.
