People do still occasionally motion for me to rooll down my window to ask excitedly what it is. The fact that it's a Mazda always surprises, but what REALYY gets them is that its a 1993. That always knocks 'em flat.

I would say that, besides the 911, there's hardly been a more timeless sportscar body design than the FD in the last 20-30 years. Take a look at any of it's contemporaries (300z's, Supra's, C4 Corvettes... even 92-93 Ferrari's and Lotus's), and they all are starting to look their age. All the FD needs is the updated 99+ turn signals, and modern-sized wheels, and it looks like you bought it yesterday off the showroom floor...

hmmm, i believe that the fd is by far one of the best looking cars to come out of japan, although i think that the toyota 2000 gt tops that list.

whenever i go to work, i park it into my usual space in the parking lot, then when im about 20 feet away, i turn around and look and think, damn this car is sexy, then i get to the building about another 30 feet and i look again before i go in thinking, damn this car is hot lol..

even though i see this car everyday, it still makes me smile, its just soo hot..

I get most of my contact with curious people when I'm fueling-up. They'll want to know what year the "RX7" is and ask if it's the type that has a Turbo. I get a big kick when they learn it actually has TWO TURBOS. Their eye's get bigger when I gladly show them the 13B-REW.

They always compliment it on how new it looks. I've never had any one, young or old, bash my 7.

It is a rare and beautiful site indeed. There are only 3 or 4 FDs roaming the streets here in Corpus.

yup, i love it. its always "what year is that"??(when first off they hardly know what kind of car it is), then i say its a 93 and they stand there in disbelief that the car is over 10 years old.

about four years ago i didnt even know what an rx7 was( i mean i was about 15 but), during the summer one of my old friends that i grew up with visited from ohio and we were just sitting around drinkin and he got on my computer and brought up this picture of a silver FD. he then got off the computer and accidently left the picture on there, later that night i sat down and saw that pic, i swear i must of sat there over an hour just looking at this picture and fell in love with it, next thing that i said is I WANT ONE OF THOSE, lol. he loves the car and then he got me hooked, whats funny is i got mine first.

i just dont think there is any nicer looking car out there. if it didnt exsist i have no idea what i would be driving right now. its a totally unique design and then when you pop the hood it a whole different ball game. one time i even had this kid walk up to me while i had my hood up and he said word for word"so whatcha got a V6 under there", i turned my head and just looked at him and said yea man, its a V6, haha

LOL...I know what you mean. I get a mix... 85 just happens to be my cruising speed on the highway, and man...it's like every integra, honda, neon, whatever thinks I'm trying to race them...when I'm just cruising along in 5th...

I also get honks from ppl tryin to race in Stangs, G35s (hey it's a nice car lol), WRXs up the A$$, and occassionally a Porsche (younger guys only).

I love my FD to death...and I def. think it's the greatest car period. But sometimes the attention it gets does let it go to your head. I love it when ppl do a double take as they see your car come by hehe or they roll up right next to you just to compliment your car. Sometimes it's even too much...you pull up to a spot (gas station, fast food joint, whatever) and like the *whole place* turns around and just watches. I'm like whaaa?? lol

It's really nice to know that people still respect and appreciate the 7. And in my area, ESP. asians. Man...they go CRAZY. Prob cuz they know the legend behind the car...

rescueranger and maverick, are you guys new to the forum or the area? Cuz I haven't seen your SNs before...
And ptrhahn, I know you live like 5 min from me, but I have yet to meet ya!

Weren't you at the Chipotle meet in Reston a few months ago? Mine was the silver w/ Fikse's (not anymore), and I look sort of like a 3/4-scale Howie Long.

p.s people NEVER try and race me... even when i try to pick it w/ them. I don't get it.

FDNewbie... your car is just SICK! comparing your car with a stock FD is like comparing a Ferrari with a SCHOOL BUS!

i met you at the rotary revolution. I was discusted when i saw you drying your car with a dirty rag so i threw you my chamois!

I don't pretend to know anything, but i think it is funny when people start asking for advice about some crazy nutso thing they want to do with a car.

these aren't kids, i'm talking 40-60 years old! they see a dvd screen and a powerFC hooked to a laptop and assume I know some stuff!

well... i guess that isn't exactly NORMAL!

Since FD is so rare in Europe, my FD always drops jaws when driving by. And its stock on outside.
I think it was only 1 person until now that guessed it's a Mazda

Many think its a Viper or some new exotic sports car. Efini badges doing their work

Whaaa?? Man...my bad. I didn't know you were there. I get a little overwhelemed with all the new faces, so I focus on learning just a few, and call it a day hehe.

I know Dave and Ryan were there, and I met Steve (Revsteve), Lt. Dan, and SomeDude2k. That's all I remember unfortunately. But wasn't it you I saw and waved to a few months back on 123?

Oh and I dunno what it is...but stock body FDs usually don't really attract too many racers. I know when mine was stock, I don't think ANYONE tried to mess w/ me...except a guy in a yellow Viper once...lol...that was def. fun.

You put a body kit on there, and it's on. You have a GT spoiler, and uh ohs...you're in for more than you bargained for (like me). EVERY single teenager revving at you hehe.

wiblergt, I remember you! hehe. Thanks a lot for the chamois! Obviously no one had prepared for the rain, and I was initially gonna trailer my car to the Revolution, but I had it detailed like an hour before I left, then just drove there...and when it rained, the car got all BLAH lookin. What was your name btw?

Speakin of Efini badges, I have them too, and that definetly leaves ppl wondering what the car is. RX7 is the only clue they have, but they don't know who makes it. I HATE it when people are like "oh who makes that?!" And you say, "Mazda" and they're like, "oh." LOL. I love Mazda and all, but they don't exactly have the supercar auroa or rep to them, ya know? hehe

From now on, if someone asks me, I'mma be like "Efini" haha. Tell 'em it's only in Japan

Oh and cruiser...it's very common for people to mistake 7s for vipers... I seem to recall a few years back (around 99) people used to call 7s "baby vipers"

LOL. Hey, be for its performance, or taking the official title for the most unreliable car in history (lol), for better or for worse, this car is still legendary!

I dunno if this is the same thing, but the FB I just bought (1984 GSL) has antifreeze injection into the carb I believe to keep it from sticking when it's freezing out... Dan (Lt. Dan) discovered it when he was looking at it.

rescueranger, I've been meaning to go to the MSCW, but their timing has just always seemed to conflict w/ mine.

The meets are always posted in the NE section under Regional
https://www.rx7club.com//forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=30

Right now, the two biggies are Rotorfest in NJ this weekend, and Loudazz7's huge BBQ meet in MD in July. They're stickied in the NE section I believe. Just keep an eye on that section from time to time, and you'll be sure to catch the threads about the meets.
