Away for 5yrs - Store or sell perfect FD?

Guys,

I am moving to Europe for 5+yrs. I have a perfect, all-original '93 with 27K miles on it. What would you do? Sell it or try to find a way to store it? If I do store it, will I have problems not having used it for so long even if I do all the things recommended for storage? Please give me your thoughts.

Why not take it with you? Container shipping is really cheap, and you'll get plenty of Euro-poon with it driving the French Riviera.

If you were to do everything right, drain all fluids, put oil in housings, etc., it would still probably need rebuild after 5 years. You would need someone to look out for it as mold in the interior and things like that could still be a problem. Unless you really love that car and can afford a place and have someone looking out for it, I would sell it.
In 5 years the 15-20K you could get for it could be 40K and you could buy something really nice.
RX-9 ?

Without having it run every so often the springs on the seals will be compressed...permanently and need a rebuild.

get rid of it.. you can always find a nicer one.. if you have it sitting in your garage it'll just be a burden over your head.. plus I hear if the RX-8 does well they will bring the 7 back so just wait.. get rid of the car

Unless you know you are going to want the car in 5 years, try to sell it.

"Now there is some trippy sh*t...". I bought my clean, original '93 with 27K on the clock from a fellow in New Mexico five years ago...

take it with you to Europe!!!!!!!!! 2 reasons:

1. Cars are very expensive there
2. It is probably one of the few places you can actually FULLY ENJOY driving the RX7.

The roads there are spectacular! I drive my uncle's SLK there whenever I go and wish I could afford the same life style there just so I could drive through Europe's intriguing country side.

If by chance you are going to Portugal, let me know as I have family and friends that might be able to make it easier for you.

I totally agree with what you said, but remember gasoline is even more expensive. I'd hate to spend several dollars per every 15miles.

i was in germany just last march and gas was 4euro a gallon. and right now 1euro is like $1.10.
so expect to spend upwards or $50 to fill the tank. sell it and get a smarte car

Where will you be in Europe? Will you have a fixed address/a place to keep it during the week? If it were me, I would take it with me, no question. As long as you can afford another "daily driver" that's not a gas hog, you will *love* having your FD over there! Plus, over there, your car will be even more rare and get even more looks!

I would take it with me and sell it when you want to come home. shipping a car is not as expensive as you would think. Also, with the lay of the land in Europe you won't have to drive it every day,
