Av Gas, is it ok for RX-7?

I sometimes run half 30% av gas & 70% 95 RON fuel. The car seems to run stronger, more responive, and exhaust temps are lower. I'm wondering if this is ok as av gas is supposedly used for jet engines not cumbustion engine. Any advise from anyone if this is ok for rotary engine ?

"Av Gas" is usually 100 octane Low Lead. This is for piston engine aircraft. Jet-A is for jets, and I wouldn't mix that with auto fuel. 100LL won't hurt the engine itself, but it will probably do a number on your O2 sensor, and Cats if you have them. The lead might also gunk up the plugs on a street engine, but it doesn't seem to have any real effect on the motor in a plane. Of course the engine is run MUCH harder in a plane than you'll ever do on the street, so that helps burn it off.

Cheers,

Yeah the lead will ruin cats and O2 sensors. I used to work at an airport quite a while back, we sold 130 octane, and it wasn't low lead. You could see little beads of lead on the valves when you pulled them.

I ran some of that 130 octane in a 12A with no apparent ill effects.

yeah jet fuel is basically kerosene

burns hotter than gasolene and is cheaper so great for the big burning jet engines

avgas is usually top of the tree gasolene leaded to hell and back again to get the sky high octane wanted

eric e

people mix jet fuel and rocker fuel in coversation but you wouldn't want to mix them in the tank!
