Autoweek Feb 4th article on FD ownership

I'm probably late to the party on this. I think the author of the article is a member of this forum. You can buy just this current issue from Autoweek, it's $11 total shipped. I called and did exactly that. Or subscribe for a year for $26-$30

Its an article by Jonathan Wong.... Been in the Rotary game for years and use to work for Super Street mag ( or another import car mag ).....He also states he was the 7th person to join this forum back in 2003..

It has pics of his SSM 94 R2 in the article..It's basically about his love for the Rotary.... a 2 page spread which list today's market value as 22K...

I am glad I got this issue before my subscription runs out...... I tend to buy all magazines I find with Rotaries in them and keep them in a collection...

He wasn't the 7th if he joined in 2003. And 22k sounds a little optimistic if that's suppose to be average retail.

Hmmn, it sounds more like you are thinking of Shiv Pathak's "Project RX-7" in Sport Compact Car from the late 90s early 2000.

Jonathan Wong was 10 when the RX-7 came out, he was the FNG at Super Street back in the day and bought his FD at age 20 in 2003.

The crash was actually in 2001... And for some reason I waited a whole month to join back in but I was around a couple of years prior. In any case, him being the 7th person to join is crap lol

This is the online version of the paper based magazine which I just received today. The text is almost identical even though it was published in 2011.

What we drive: 1994 Mazda RX-7 R2 - Autoweek

As you can see, Wong states that he was the seventh member, but does not mention the date in which he joined. This information is the same in both sources.

Hey guys,
I joined the board WAY before I bought my car. I was on dial-up and was on AOL service. Man, what a nightmare that was. Heck, I remember when the server took a crap (or the site moved to a new server) and we had to re-register I believe. But anyway, love the board and have learned a ton from the people on here.
And I'm a different Jonathan Wong from the one at Super Street. He is still there and we are actually friends.
Yes, I did a short online piece a few years ago for the site and then our Escape Roads editor wanted to change up the section in the mag to focus more on the ownership experience instead of the history like how the stories used to be. Anyway, changed it a bit for the mag and was able to get my car professionally shot, so that was neat.

Wrong Wong!

Thanks for putting some of your love for the FD into print.
