Well, it's about Effing time.

Been a subscriber for many many years and always wondered when they were going to feature the FD in that section.......

 

YEP but I will have to disagree with the bean counters on this one

We will see nice examples these cars selling for 40k in five years or sooner.

All of us who own these cars with just basic bolts on making approx 300 HP realize there is nothing better. From GT3s to corvettes nothing beats a modded FD.

Don't believe me go to a dealer and take a corvette, boxster, GT3 etc... out for a drive on some back roads and you'll get back in your FD and drive away with a big smile

Negatives of the FD:
lots of rattles/cheap or rather light interior (plus's and minus's but I'll take less weight every time when it comes to sports car interior)
A little herky jerky in traffic (diff and engine bushings combined with PPF make things interesting but again LIGHT)
runs hot
terrible AC
terrible stereo
terrible gas mileage (I get a approx 17)

However I'll sacrifice all the above and then some because the overall driving experience is second to none. You want an even more visceral/70s sports car experience just take out the AC, PS, Stereo etc... or get the weight down to 2500 and then really have some fun

I just like to see the FD getting press. Hopefully it drives interest in the platform. Would love to see more action around here.

We love the car, it seems to have it all. Screw what everyone else thinks about it and where the values are going. Be happy that you've found something you can enjoy so much, and go enjoy it some more.

 

Fn sh** the phone app shows related threads under each thread and it's mixed me up again.

They really are a thing of beauty.

 

I just came out of a pair of Acura NSXs, which are HOT HOT HOT in terms of value growth. All the press (paper and online) have written glowing articles on the car's styling longevity, handling performance, comfort, and increasing values in the past few years. Fun car... some mags (Hemmings and Car &Driver) each actually purchased NSX to evaluate, test, and/or perform long-term tests. That's a statement!

And yet, after 4 years in a NSX, I find the FD a lot more fun to drive. Sooner or later, the rest of the world will figure that out.

I think the reliability issues with FDs hold down the values (fear of the unknown with the common non-rotorhead). The more these mods get out there as mainstream, the more that people will get greater comfort around the FD, which will trigger increased values.
