Automatic Fan Mod How-To

Not sure if anyone has done this before but i found nothing about it...
I was looking into doing the "Fan Mod" to my 7 but i didnt want to have to put in a switch, so i thought about how to make it automatically work. I have a Greddy turbo timer that was installed with the Greddy harness, I dont know how other peoples turbo timers work but when my car is turned off with the turbo timer activated the radio turns off while the engine stays on. with that in mind i setup a relay that keeps the fan mod wire ungrounded whenever the engine is on AND the radio is on, and when the engine is on without the radio on it is grounded.
this allows me to set my turbo timer for 1 minute, and the fans will run untill the timer shuts of, then if i set it to 2 minutes the fans run, then are set to stay on for 10 minutes by the fan mod wire.
the only problem i have found is that the fans run while starting (due to the radio power being cut during starting while the engine is in the on position) i havent thought of a way around this yet, but it isnt much.

If you have an aftermarket head unit the power on signal wire is red, this is NOT the yellow source power wire which is on all the time.

The fan mod wire (if you dont allready know) is black with a yellow stripe and should be easy to find near the ECU Information on the fan mod can be found here: http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/fan_mod.html

only other wires to deal with are ground, ground the wires to any metal, i used one of the bolts that hold the ECU down.

you need a 5 pole SPDT realy (4 poles dont have the 87a lead)

they are numbered
connect:
30 to Ground
86 to Ground
85 to the switched 12V input for radio (Red wire)
87a to the Fan Mod wire
(Diagram included)

This all should work for anyone as long as your turbo timer turns off your radio when active.

As stated before if everything is installed correctly if you set your turbo timer for less than 2 minutes, the fans should come on but will not stay on for 10 minutes. if you set it for 2 minutes or more the fans should come on then stay on for 10 minutes after the car shuts off.
