I read your statement as it is revving higher than normal between changes? Do you mean like (in manual trans terms) you are slipping the clutch excessively before a shift, or waiting for the revs to be too high before you shift? Is it doing this for every gear or only some of them? Are you engaging every gear or will it skip any of them?

The first thing to check is if your ATF is filled and of good condition. I assume this is correct?

If so and you are still getting excessive slipping or high revving, it can be any number of things:
1. A stuck line pressure solenoid valve
2. Accumulators not operating properly
3. Throttle position sensor out of adjustment
4. Vehicle speed sensor not operating properly
5. ATF thermosensor not operating properly
6. Worn clutches, one-way clutches, and/or brakes

If it was #6 I doubt that you would get a flashing HOLD indication. So I'll rule that out for now unless you have multiple things wrong.

Also, with the same error popping up it is unlikely that it is just a faulty connection. I would say that one of your connections to the sensors is either severed or a sensor is bad. You said this car has been sitting for a bit? any chance that some vermin has gotten into the wiring and chewed it up? Checking continuity to the PCM is probably the easiest thing you can do. Once you verify all the connections are good and you are still having problems I'd check all the sensors for functionality.

Oh, I know you arent going to do this but switching over to a PFC and Banzai would not fix anything to do with the transmission. All the signals and operation of the trans would be unchanged (the whole point of the harness).

Yeah, again make sure ATF is the correct level that is first and foremost.

Your rev dropping thing may be the transmission not achieving lockup? I dunno, difficult to tell without actually being in the car to diagnose.

I would say that it is unlikely that it's the computer, but it is an easy check if you have access to another one that someone doesn't use due to a swap.

I would guess it might be your wiring/grounding or a faulty sensor.
