August 31, 2013 Chris Carlisi Memorial Meet & Track Day Official Information Thread!
It's that time of year again....the SIXTH Annual Carlisi Memorial Event is upon us!
A shot of Chris' father Ron Carlisi next to his son's Mandeville 20B FD that is being taken care of by Ray 'Malloy Mazda' Crowe:
Please subscribe to this thread and check periodically as I'll be updating this initial post with new information!
Like last year's event that was held at NJ Motorsports Park on the Lightning track, this year the event will be held at Pocono Raceway in PA, with four 20-25 minute sessions with Instructors riding along. Beginners are encouraged!
The choice of venue the past few years is appropriate, as Chris always planned to track his 20B FD along with driving it in and around NYC---he always had very lofty goals, and had a habit of accomplishing them.
To register, please paypal $20 per car and $10 per additional passenger (children are free) to: ChrisCarlisiMemorial@yahoo.com. If you'd like a T-Shirt, please include $15 per shirt along with the size you'd like. List your full name, forum name, email address, and short description of your rotary steed. A portion of the profits will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Notice above I said 'a portion'..... I should have said 'the majority.' One change this year is the idea of Chris' mother Judie, who was very close with him. She knows how much Chris loved RX-7s and loved being at the racetrack as a spectator. He especially loved the idea of rotary-powered FDs flying around the track spitting fireballs! This past year she generously covered one lucky raffle winners' track time, and John Renna of BlueberryFarms fame was the lucky winner (seen below). This year, a small amount of the money raised will go towards sponsoring the track days of grassroots RX-7 enthusiasts. A wonderful idea and I'm sure one that Chris would approve of!
Here is a thread with pics from one of the past year's events to give you an idea of the caliber of cars that have attended (and the huge amount of fun we had!):

Looking forward to this... I'll be there with the FD and the plan is to be on track!
Last year was awesome... as I was the proud winner of the best FD headlights money can buy and an assortment of other awesome goodies. Lots of great things raffled off and the event itself is a great time; and for a great cause. Lets get a good turnout!

I spoke to the owner of Track Time 4 Cars today and was able to get a lot more information for the upcoming track day
Cost if registering soon will be $200 for the day..... as the event approaches the cost will increase to $250. This includes an Instructor with you for the day. Expect 6 to 8 sessions of 17 to 18 minutes per session. For those who haven't tracked much, I can tell you that this is a LOT of seat time
For anyone considering a convertible, you must have a rollbar (OEM or aftermarket) that extends above the headrests.
We will be running on one of the largest, fastest courses in the country and certainly in the northeast---- It's the 'Formula USA' track configuration, which consists of 18 (!) turns and 2.6 miles per lap. We'll be running on the infield along with both front and back straights, including the 60 foot wide 'Nascar Surface'...... This is considered a mini-Daytona, and should allow those with decent horsepower to reach speeds exceeding 170 mph!
Of course, this also means it's even more important to make sure your car is 100% track ready before considering this event. Safety first as always
We expect that the online sign-up form will be up within the week or so..... stay tuned
