The KC area has a guy (RTS3GEN here on the forum) running a ported engine on a Pettit ECU without any problems. He in the process of upgrading to a programmable one but he made an 11.77 pass with his Pettit ECU setup.

Re: I'm with YZF-r1 on this one

Ignorance is bliss! there are several guys running 17lbs of boost on stock turbos even on this forum. Three guys I know of just in Atlanta with similiar set ups. If you guys don't believe that I've been running 17lbs of boost for as long as I have just ask anyone in Atlanta. I've been on this Forum for several years now and I've got better thing to do than B.S about cars. if you look at guys running high 11's or low 12's most of them are running high boost. Theres a guy up north somewhere that ran a 10.98w/ stock turbos and the guy ran 18lbs of boost. Its all about air to fuel ratio. If you guys can't consider yourself a great tuner of the EFi unit then you have no place to say anything.

[Mr. Scott] I'm given' 'er all she gott, Cap'n'. The meter is pegged:

Unhappy Seems to be some confusion - EFI vs. stock ecu

Hmmmm - there seems to be some misunderstanding here. Is the EFI being referred to the old PFS Purple box, or is it the stock ecu? I raised the flag with the understanding that the stock ecu was being used. Efini's statement that EFI is tunable suggests that the stock ecu (not tunable) is not being used. So, if a tunable ecu is being used, then of course you can run higher boost, but going past 16 lbs on stock turbos generates so much heat that it is past their efficiency. Yes, you can get them to go higher and dump fuel to keep afrs in the low 10's to stop the rapidly heating charge from detonating, but not for any sustained amount of time. Drag racing, sure, but the turbos won't last long if you're doing that road racing.

That might be where the disconnect is.

Yes EfI is the company that makes the purple computers for Peter Ferrell. I guess some people refer to them pfc or pmc. If you guys are reffering to a stock computer running high boost, I understand the confusion here. I'm glad we got that cleared up. I was beggining to wonder if there was a conspiracy here. :P go wankle!

By George, I think we got it!!! In the forum, EFI means factory Electronic Fuel Injection. PFS= Perter Farell Supercars, PFC= Power Full Computer (Apexi), etc, etc. Hehehehehe, that was pretty funny though. Now you know why we were putting up the BULLSHIT flag on you, hehehehehe It's all good buddy. I know it takes some time to get used to the lingo around here.

Now that we know what the heck you're talking about, yeah, ofcourse, you can run whatever boost you want to tune for, but I'm sure the PFS does have it's limits. So at 17lbs, what HP are you putting to the wheels? Let's talk about fun stuff now .

Take care,
Tom
