ATTN: Apexi FMIC owners

Hi everyone,
Im planning on going FMIC and ive heard lots of good things about the Apexi. But, Ive seen two in person and ive seen pictures of some. The wierd thing is that ive seen pictures where the IC sits Right up in the mouth of the bumper (trimming the bumper of course) and ive seen some other pictures where the IC is kinda sitting back inside the bay. So what is it? Does it sit back sleeperish or is it right up in your face be scared of me?
Some pictures would help

Huy

Oh just a thought, i want a CWest front end eventually... does this fit in the mouth of the CWest well? i mean does it look like the IC "came" with the bumper? cuase i really like that look and i hope to get there in time
THanks everyone

The Apex kit sits in the engine bay right in front of the radiator. I think of thiird of it sits behind a support bar and it doesn't go into the bumper. It's not "in your face so be scared" visible.

Cool

It is intimidating to the public when you're approaching them at high velocity. All they can see is the FMIC!! BWAHAHAHA

whoa.... what the heck color is your car? is that a bad pic or a re-spray? (not the bumper, but the car)

.... not saying that it looks bad - just curious. I found a '93 R1 that I was considering at the time I purchased my car that had been repainted GM's Gunmetal Silver (to match the owner's Tahoe) ... it looked identical to the color of yours. ... just wondering if it's a more common thing than I thought it was.

does the apex fmic w/ dual intakes come with the sleeves? and if so can we specify the color or can you order them from somewhere? i would prefer red sleevs instead of the usual blue. by sleeves i mean the silicone pieces that hold the ic piping.

They came with some orangey/red silicone couplers and black brackets. I don't think you can specify a specific color either.

Great front end but im looking for the IC! hahaha its kool though, is the FMIC behind it the Apexi FMIC Badog?
Im still confused though.....
al900rr says that it sits back inside the car.... but Neo seems to hint that it sits right up in your face..... which is it!?!?!

Anyone else have pictures of the IC on the stock bumper?
But thanks a lot for the input you all.

Cool

Ninjak,

If you were to measure the distance between the bottom half of the stock bumper to where the IC begins it should be roughly 1-1.5inch's before you start to hit the IC.

From a distance the IC looks like it's exposed. Not fully but a bit. However the IC resides "within" the bumper.

If you lift the hood you can roughly see 3/4's of the IC. The remaining quarter is covered by the bumper.

You can say that it's "tucked" in the bumper.....

Yeah, it's really hard to explain.....it's very visible, yet it's not a mouthful with just the stock bumper but it still looks mean, and I'd have to agree that it does sit deep in the bumper not right at the edge like most pics show.

Also one other thing, if you go Apexi' FMIC be prepared for some work, plan it for a weekend. Not everything fit as the directions said they would, don't know why, but I had to cut several things including my frame, a few people on here told me there would be no cutting.....also you'll need a smaller battery, a R51 battery from Auto Zone does the trick. But putting the thing in doesn't take any time at all, it's just taking everything out and relocating stuff that is difficult....

Ninjak, I think your confusing the actual Apexi kit with the XS engineering or the rx7fashion kit. Both the XS and rx7fashion use an Apexi Skyline core, it's bigger and sits further forward than the actual apexi kit. I know you have to actually cut more with the skyline core since it's bigger and in front of everything. Both are excellent intercoolers. The apexi is the only core that is designed to let more air to the radiator. My roomate has a '95 240sx and he has the japanese turbo motor (sr20det) he had the greddy front mount as well as the HKS and has now switched to the apexi core. The apexi is the only one that doesn't overheat his car when driving around town and in stop and go traffic.

It doesn't sit right in the bumper. It slides right into a little nook in the engine bay. Kinda like where the radiator used to be. It's not in your face but it's not hidden ether. It's deeper within the car. You can't really see it unless you get on your hands and knees and look in, either that or take like 30 steps away from the car. It's not visible like alot of other front mounts. Oh, there was a little cutting involved with the Apex kit. You have to cut the headlight support bracket to accomodate the end tank. I think it was on the passenger side. Pretty simple and it isn't detrimental to anything.

Huy,
It sounds like you're gonna get one anyway, but if you wanna see one in person, give me a call at 214 642 3815. I noticed you're in the DFW area. Let me know if you wanna check it out or something. I have the Apex FMIC from RX7 Fashion.

you can barely see the top of the intercooler. It's directly in front of the radiator

Damm Photopoint sucks. Anybody wanna host some pics?

I have the RX7 Fashion kit and it sits up front. You can hardly see it from the engine bay. I also have the C-West front end and it had to be cut a little for the intercooler to fit.
