Question ATTN: aftermarket steering wheel owners, srs airbag sensor?

i am changing my steering wheel out for an japanese spec efini part, which doesnt have an airbag. i was wondering if there is any inexpensive way into tricking the srs brain so the airbag/srs light doesnt blink on my dashboard, such as inlining some type of relay or resistor. i would prefer to do that instead of having to invest in an expensive hub kit. thanks in advance.

Yes I have a solution but it is highly technical and would really be better done by a professional with lots of experience in electronics and nuclear physics. What I did to eleviate from the problem of the blinking light and beeps from the air bag computer was I removed the bulb and unplugged the computer. Now I warned you so take your chances. The computer is on the drivers side sitting behind the radio somewhat. If you bend down under your steering wheel you will see two connectors coming off of it. Just disconnect those to plugs and no more beeps. Reach up underneath the gauge cluster and twist the bulb out and your done home free. Good luck.

Nope, mine came off real easy. Just unbolt the 3 bolts on the back of the steering wheel.

Disconnect your battery first, and you'll remove the chance of an unintentional airbag deployment. I was a little nervous doing it too, and tried to keep my head out of the path of the bag just in case

Cool

If either of you are interested, I May want to buy your airbag computer you just unplugged. First I need to see if it was damaged in the wreck. If you would be willing to remove it and ship it to me Ill send you some money for your troubles.
