I hope that was that stupid coolant line to my throttle body, the one that wouldn't come loose when I was trying to change plug wires. Die, stupid coolant line, die.

Looks like cooked hose to me. Who knows.

Might as well (more pics)

Elected to get the first tow truck instead of waiting for a flatbed, since my work is about a mile away from the market where this happened. I'll get it flatbedded to Rotary Power in the morning.

It looks like the damage is relatively minimal. Just a lot of melted crap near the firewall. I'll have Jeff give me the bad news after he gets a chance to look at it.

I love this car. There's no way i'd get rid of it.

Nice frosted paint job

My eyes, oh the horror

Did you ever get all the recalls done? Like the one for the fuel injection line that leaks and catches on fire

Well that blows but it doesn't actually look that bad.
Change that water filled battery with a gell filled one!

This all happened in the past 3 hours.

I was coming into work, stopped at a supermarket right off my fwy exit to pick up some sodas.

As soon as they made the PA announcement, I knew it was my car.

I put the fire out before the fire dept got there. They just surveyed it and let the smoke die out, and disconnected my battery.

As far as the recalls, I don't know. When I first got my car last year, Culver City Mazda said I had oil leaks that might lead to an engine fire, but when I asked them about if they could tell me whether the recall work had been done, they were dodgy and said to just bring it in. I didn't trust them and had just let it slide.

My bad.

At least your car didn't burn to the ground like this one on the NE Forum https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=103499

sunnyxwala , just call Mazda USA 1-800-222-5500, they can look up your VIN and see if it has all the recalls performed.

Sorry about the car MastaCow.

I'd love to know what caused it.

I just found a fuel leak in my single turbo last night at my aftermarket fuel pressure reg.

Luckily, it's mounted kinda hanging in the middle of nowhere so when it leaks, it drips down onto the ground without hitting anything hot or any wires. Anyone know for sure what sealer to use on AN fittings? right now I'm using some pipe sealer that doesn't harden... is this the wrong stuff?

Brian (fire extinguisher should be at my house today!)

Sorry about your FD, but the damage looks minimal. I like how their fire truck pays respect to FDNY, very cool.
