subscribed for hopefully some test results.

question, if you get into boost and activate your water injection at temps higher than 50C do you see a drop in temps or does it just stabilize? I wonder if a cheaper/easier solution would be to set your transition point for the WI to more like 5psi and doing a short "soft boost" pull would lower the intake temps for you?

Likely, the temp would be lower, but KDR didn't think the nozzle was appropriately size. Injecting at low boost would likely lead to a bogging situation.

Does anyone know how much pressure is made by the OEM FD washer fluid pump?

IC sprayer

I feel your pain buddy.. I live in Hoboken, NJ right across the river and hit tunnel traffic everyday..my air temps on a hot day go from 46c to 60's and get me nervous. Howver, I'm set up non-sequential so I can control when I want to boost. I plan to tap into the sprayer under the hood or run a tube from the rear since the water is prob cooler there and I never use that sprayer. Just take a small piece of the tube off from under your hood and goto pepboys or homedepot and ask someone to match it up..thats what I plan to do. Now heres a good question..can suddenly spraying under boost and your IAT's dropping fast be harmful? Lean you out and detonate?

Theres a little right up on here and give a part number for a nozzle.

Ok everyone I need help bad..I have a xs power type intercooler and I need a duct..I cant make one. Does anyone know where I can get one??

Thanks!

I think I am going to pass on the switch activated 3-way valve. Instead, it would be much much much easier to just branch off the existing sprayer line to a 3rd sprayer in the duct. Anytime the windshield sprayer is activated by the driver, it will spray the windshield and the IC. This is not ideal, but would save hours in wiring and wouldn't require any expensive solenoid valves.

What I found in the link above was interesting. It appears this setup could create a siphon. This would most definitely need to be addressed. Can someone explain the physics of this siphon and how the author of the above link was able to mediate this with a "Whisper one way aquarium air line valve"?

Is this - http://www.aquariumguys.com/checkvalve1.html - simply placed in line between the pump and the nozzle?

Thanks!

i used an electronic boost switch (4psi) rigged to a sack type washer bag and pump and a standard windshield washer nozzle. With a fresh tank of cool water esp. ice water i'll see a 10-20 degree drop in AITs in a minute or two over the course of about a mile or two.

I've thought about rigging a button in to manually spray but i couldn't be bothered yet. I'm trying to find a nozzle that will "fog" the water at low pressures. I've seen them so they must exist!

In closing- it's my opinion that even these hodge podge systems work, but they're certainly less efficient than a properly engineered unit. another stumbling block that i've run in to is that the water will heat soak too. even if the water does evaporate and thus cool your heat exchanger you've already warmed it up. it ends up being a zero-sum.
