ASP SMIC & Efini Y-Pipe kit? anyone have that combo?

ok, well I sold my y-pipe kit or rather the bottom 1/2 of it to wadejg but he just told me he is having the ASP SMIC installed . From the pics in the link I think they are both running twins and both using the older style y-pipe. If the ASP comes with piping then it may be cheaper and easier to stay with the older y-pipe then fab new pipe but if it doesn't then it may be worth it. Anyhow can you guys help him out before I ship the kit, so he can decide whether he needs and/or wants it still? thanks!

THis is the peices I have. Missing is the crossover pipe.

It looks like you can not keep the air pump? If he wants to keep the air pump then it may be worth using the newer efini y-pipe kit and fabing more pipe to reach the SMIC. I have no idea if that will work (fitment) or if it's been done before. If someone with ASP SMIC and air pump could please post a picture and reply, i'd appreacitate it.

Thanks for posting this. He is asking about my future setup. I will be running twin turbos (Efini '99 spec), M2 intake, and ASP medium SMIC. The question is can I run the lower half of the efini y-pipe with this setup or should I just stick with the stock. Above, in the first picture is the lower part of the Efini y pipe. Obviously, the ASP intercooler inlet pipe replaces the Efini metal crossover pipe, so I don't need that.

Thanks for the input,
Justin Wade

I havent bothered with the efini y pipe for this reason. I'm running BNR twins with an ASP large smic.

You'll need to cut off the flanged section and use a coupler to connect to the pipe that runs from the y pipe to the hot side of the ic.

I've installed this intercooler with an M2 intake w/o removing the airpump. You'll need the specific airpump friendly pump which is the top pipe in the picture. Also, this other pic is from a vehicle that had the airpump unremoved. The airpump friendly pipe attaches to the stock Y-pipe. It will not attach to the Efini Y-pipe. I think if you search on the forum, someone modified the efini y-pipe to fit with the M2 intercooler. I remember it required some welding.

Running an ASP medium with an Efini y-pipe would be more work than it's worth. You'd be better off using the stock y-pipe with a coupler and piping supplied with the IC kit.

Here's a pic of the ASP medium with the air pump pipe:

They're K&N's, I can dig up the part #s if you need them. Yes, they should work with the stock intake hoses.

I am running the ASP innercooler and an Efini y pipe . I modified the y pipe by lowering the flange, made my own with 5 attaching bolts instead of two , and made a pipe with one bend to the innercooler . No air pump is used but there is a belt idler in the air pumps place .
