arrggh-- hard shifting!

Hi guys, first post here.

My '93 RX-7 was down for several months for a engine rebuild. It always shifted fine then... but now, after it has heatsoaked for a while, it becomes very difficult to shift into 1st, 2nd, and sometimes (although not as often or as bad) 3rd. The clutch engagement point doesn't seem to change; only the shift effort gets very high.

When cold, it shifts smooth as silk. No change here.

Background: when it first started happening, I replaced the slave cylinder. Still hard to shift when hot. So I replaced the master cylinder. No improvement. I then replaced the clutch hose with a stainless braided line. No improvement. Bled the clutch. Again. Still hard to shift.

So now I have a brand new hydraulic system and the problem persists.

Could the car sitting have caused deterioration of... something? If so, what? I'm at a loss here. Need some help. What would cause this behavior?

i had that problem kinda. My car was siting for about 4 months and when i got in and tried to moved it, the shifing was very stiff. I check the fluids and toped it off, and without starting the car i just played with the shifter for about 5 min. 1st all the way to 5th and back again. From start it was very tuff to move then if started to losen up so try that. GOD bless !!!!

^^^Exactly. The fact that it got worse as it heated up is a sign of a lubrication problem.
